Fat chance Detroit gives up that first round pick with how they've been.

Detroit will never do this. This draft is one of the deepest in years, even a Top-6-7 pick represents a great chance at an elite player.

Montreal would do it, I don’t think Detroit would.

if only san jose will get us a top ten pick, say 8th overall we could have 1st and 8th in one of the best drafts in history!
not to mention all of those 2nd rounders!

Detroit is all but guaranteed a top 4 pick, all of which will likely be better than KK

pffff Detroit would easily prefer Lafreniere, Byfield, Stutzle, or Raymond to the struggling, now concussed and out long term KK

Lol no it's not, KK has regressed and doesn't look like an elite 1C at all.

Have you seen this years draft? Literally the top 5 players will probably start the season in the NHL unless one goes to NCAA

He hasn't regressed. He's still playing Elite in his own end. You people have to realize this kid is 19, meanwhile all of his draft companions are 20. He's nearly a year younger than all of them.

Only guy with a sure shot of making the NHL is Lafreniere.

I will take that bet and you will loose. Zero chance Byfield doesnt start next year, hes better then Hughes (neglect injury ofc)

Well if Detroit finishes last in the league, like they probably will at this point. they get a top 4 pick no matter what. if 2-3 guys are NHL ready of those top 4 then that is 2-3 guys that are likely already better then KK who has struggled since coming up. Not saying KK doesnt have potential to be a top 6 center still. just that the ceiling for the top 5 guys in the draft is higher then his at this point in time. Thus it is a horrible gamble for DET as they aren't even trading their high draft pick for a sure fire player

KK will find his grove, kid is just 19. Gotta be patient.

On another note though, that would be my exact top 4 in that order.

Lafrenière
Byfield
Stützle
Raymond

i love watching people who dont know any better repeat '' the draft is the deepest its been in 5 years ''

The draft gets consistently deeper every single season since 2015 and anyone who says otherwise is completely blind to the impact NCAA has had on the draft in that time with more 1st and 2nd round players taken in bulk then ever seen in NCAA history . Because of NCAA players ability to declare themselves UFA after College many teams avoided wasting a higher pick on said players as a rule but in today's NHL that culture's changed.

Those who watch hockey understand Cause vs Effect and see the Context in which it Apply's
Those who watch Sports Highlights and Glimpse at the occasional game just parrot whatever a nobody analyst on TSN says regardless of Context .

looks like the 2014 draft
a lot of hype but only a handful of first rounders every met their full potential in their first 1-2 years with the bulk of them needing 5 years and counting for their breakout season to come .

Lefreneiere like Hughes is Awesome but he's no Crosby or Mcdavid .
he's just been in a prospect pool for so long where he's a country mile ahead of the competition that he looks like a man playing among children . That will be tested when jumping to the NHL as seen with Hughes if you dont face real challenge's in opposition for a long while it can be a culture shock at the National level

It's not a bold statement, But based on pure fact, Lafreneire, Byfield, Stutzle and Raymond all top 4 are remarkably better then KK.

You realize the guys who are drafted will only be 3-6 months younger than KK who already has 100 NHL games. It's not KK's fault he has no offensive wingers to help him create offense. He's still playing defense up to his standards.

Based on what? No doubt most of them are better offensively, but I doubt a single one can play defense better than KK
