This has been the talk for a few weeks now. He isnt being challenged enough in the AHL and is ready for the NHL. If you cant talk Hank into accepting a trade or if he won't retire after this season. You have to deal Georgiev. Remember, He was an undrafted FA. Chances are he will never be a top of the line NHL Goalie, so deal him while his stock is high and keep your future stud Goalie happy.
just because he is undrafted doesn't mean he's bad.. Belfour, Bobrovsky, CuJo were all undrafted goalies.. and in undrafted in general you also have Nick Backstrom, Martin St Louis, Dan Girardi, Mark Giordano, etc.
Georgiev has proven to be an NHL goalie, he's started 13 of 29 games as a 23 year old while maintaining a .920+ save percentage and a 2.67 GAA on a team that gives up an average of 3.13 goals per game (and also BLEEDS shots, they have the 2nd most shots against with 1044, 38 behind the leading chicago blackhaws that have played an additional game)
Honestly, it's really just time for Hank to retire as sad as that is. Shesterkin is exempt from the expansion draft (and hank is definitely gone by then) so we don't have to worry about losing him in expansion. Hopefully we can trade Hank before the deadline (doubt it) but even that as a fan sounds harsh (he should retire as a ranger).
Shesterkin has never started more than 44 games in a year (including playoffs). As elite as he is, it would be a mistake to think he could handle 55-60 regular season games and anywhere from 4-28 games in the playoffs on top of that right from the gate. Hopefully we can resign georgiev at a reasonable rate (3m for 3 years I would do)
