Are Any of These Guys Available Question Mark

Created by: OldNYIfan

Description
Watched another oh-so-close but depressing loss again today and wished we could have one of the RD's shown in the LTIR column. They're the sort of first-class RD I think Anaheim needs to become a serious contender, and I've arranged them kinda in my order of preference. Do you think that any of them are available? If so, do we have affordable assets that could acquire them? I would utilize any of our future draft picks, including what may be a top ten first this June.

Extra credit if you can think of anyone else we should target.

Personally, I think anyone on this list would cost us Rakell or at least Kase, and I'm not willing to part with either.

He's primarily a defensive d-man. His offensive production will always be limited. Think of him as a younger, left-handed version of David Savard. I thought he played well with Lindholm (on his off side) and with Gudbranson on his natural side, given his youth.

Let’s just put it this way, he wasn’t given a fair shot to start the season. He had to play with Holzer. As @OldNYIfan said he was better when playing with anyone not named Holzer.

The only guy movable on that list irl is Pulock, but you trade for him on the and NYI fans act like he's the best Lindstrom or smth

He’s our number 1 defenseman and we don’t really have a replacement for him, so yeah, we value him pretty highly

The Caps have four or five NHL-ready LHD outside the NHL. Djoos and Johansen each play either side. Djoos has won a Cup. Johansen was a 1st round pick. Happy to see each stay in Washington, but if you're looking for defensive help that could turn into something big, and not looking to part with big pieces like Kase or Rakell, those are guys to consider. I think the Caps have less prospect depth at forward, so forward prospects and draft picks could help make something happen.

Weegar has been FLA's best D man this year (and yes Ekblad has been very Ekgood this year, I'd give Weegar the slight edge though) and Savrd could be movable, but only bc his contract expires after next year, he's the best DFD on his team by quite a large margin...

As I said in my Team Explanation, in real life I don't think the first five guys I've listed are available (except at a ridiculous cost), and I'm beginning to be persuaded that Weegar falls into that category, too. So I really don't think that an immediate fix is in store for us.

Hunting Manson from last summer already, denied by you in all three outing even if overpaying, but still, would the following move the needle :

But it’s Ryan Pulock. He’s their best defenseman period, not just one on a hot streak.

I'm convinced that everyone on this list with the exception of Savard is unreachable . . . at least for the Ducks, with the assets available.
