My attempt at Lindholm

Created by: Blazingbat11

Initial Creation Date: Dec. 6, 2019

Description
I could imagine a prospect also being attached that the Habs might have to include. ANA seem to need a RD and have a bunch of LD. So perhaps add Juulsen or Brook?

Domi is 1 year younger, and is still an RFA at the end of the year. Lindholm at the end of his contract will be a UFA. So ANA would realistically gain a few more years of player control if the sign Domi long term.

Habs leave their Center core to Danault and the 3 kids (KK, Zukes, and Poehling)

Again why Byron on the 4th ?
He’s 20X better than Cousins

Ducks' defense is too weak to move Lindholm at this point. They'd need at least a solid D-prospect going their way...

Yeah, I wrote that probably Habs would have to add one of their RD prospects (Juulsen or Brook?). ANA is also one of the least offensive teams in the league (tied for 5th last), So adding offense can be argued as just a big a need as their defense.

I also think ANA would probably prefer to move Fowler over Lindholm (due to age), but Fowler probably nullifies basically any deal trying to get him out of California...sooooo

Brook or Fleury, I presume. Domi+Fleury+2nd should be a considerable offer.

because its about his speed /pace and allowing him to remain consistent

Byron's struggled and gotten injured more in the past 2 years then his entire career combined due to being overplayed.
Play Byron on 3rd and PK because that's when he's put up his best numbers
but MTL had him playing everywhere including PP in which he's a single digit offensive producer over his career .

Byron's value is in his checking game built on his speed and the 5'9 wingers become a fan favorite for it .
Putting him on ''4th line '' is Kotkanemi's line as they've gotten the least minutes all year long .
''4th line'' is our defensive backchecking unit .
Cousins game isnt defined by speed so giving him more even strength ice time to battle and create momentium makes sense .

as far as Cousins he has Chemistry with Domi and Byron does not .
its like Claude said '' you got to play with what you got so if Cousins has to play top 6 so be it ''

Domi nor Julien are happy with the Shaw trade
but even the Coach is throwing shade at Marc Bergavin now

As a Ducks fan, this actually works for me. Quite refreshing to see an offer that works for both sides in here.

I mean, I don’t see it happening, but Kudos to you! Good trade man.

If we're giving up Domi this would be an ideal move for him. I do think Anaheim would want Brook with him, maybe you could convince them to take Jordan Strubles college rights or something like that instead but overall this is what it would take.

What I think it takes to move a young #1D off a rebuilding team that's deepest at center, with the main piece being a center?

a) Domi, Byron, Kulak, Brook, 2nd, and take back some junk the other way. or,

b) Kotkaniemi, Brook, 2nd.

Have to overpay if the currency is something each side has extras of (1st round centers under 25), and you're trying to get something neither side has another of of (established #1d under 30). I'm still not sure either of these gets done, because Anaheim likes LIndholm a lot, but if it happens, these are my predictions. Not sure which direction the Habs prefer.

I don't see Montreal making a trade like this. We can't really afford to trade Domi. He's not playing great right now, but he's still a top 6 player we desperately need.

I think it would be more from a long term outlook that this would make sense. I think naturally over time Domi is going to get eclipsed by the kids at Center, and with guys like Ylonen and Caufield, Habs will be fine on the wing moving forward.

For MTL to compete now I think they need a bonafide top pairing LD more than they would need Domi. But yeah, now it would be solving one problem and creating another.

It's not like Domi is 28 or 29 and won't be good in a few years. He's still only 24 and is still getting better. You never know what will happen when Ylonen of Caufield come into the NHL. Also the fact that Domi can play both Wing and Center is a big asset in case of injuries. Anaheim also has no interest in this trade, so it's not even worth argueing about.
