change it to a 2nd round pick and that's still a pretty big maybe-- johnsson goes down to a 30 point player on a team that's not the leafs, tampa, boston, etc.

If the Leafs give up that much for a backup goalie they're insane, I don't care what Rangers fans have to say. A top-6 forward for a guy who is going to play less than 25% of your games? Ridiculous.

Backup goalie is not this teams biggest issue. Until the team starts to play better consistently upgrading the 2nd goalie won't matter unless you clone Freddie.

Freddie is already 30 and as a NYR fan I would advise against extending him too long. By the time his deal is up he will be 32 (or almost 32). We've seen this with Hank and how his contract now is a burden given his decline in play. I think it's very interesting that Toronto fans are saying Andersson is playing horribly when he's having the best season of his career stats wise. They just went from an avg of 3.48 goals per game down to 3.22 this year (goals scored that is not goals against).

And just an FYI, NYR are a much worse team than Toronto and Georgievs stats are very similar to Anderssons (andersson has edge in GAA but Georgiev wins Sav%)

the way im looking at it is it will be a good transition player and maybe they could split games like halak and rask do. obviousaly he is a decent goalie and hes young. could be andersons replacement when his contract is up i cant see the leafs extending him due to his age and how much money he is gonna want.

Nowhere in my post did I say Freddie was bad or "playing horribly." In fact, I said I'd like to clone him and have two. Two is always better than one. His contract extension will be interesting because of his age, but he also has less miles on him at that age then Hank had. So that might help him. Or they might be helping to platoon him more with Joseph Woll, who's the current AHL backup and has some potential to be at least a part-time starter.

I am not saying Georgiev is not good either. He might end up being great. But Toronto doesn't want him as a starter, they want him as a backup. And to trade a top-6 forward for a backup goalie is awful value, no matter how good Rangers fans try to sell everybody on how good Georgiev is and how they should get a first round pick for him. Go ahead and get that, but if Toronto gives it to you I will be pissed.

Gee, I take this as Leaf. You have secured the back up position this year and next year. If Georgiev is good enough and really he could be the # 1 in NYR except Lundqvist and his contract is in his way then the Leafs might have their # 1 in 2021/22 when the too expensive Andersson moves on.

He has decent stats overall. What I found interesting was that his GSAA/GP was pretty low-ball things considered. The Rangers play very good infront of him

i mean lundqvist is there-- GSAA is a season long stat that builds.. compare him to the rest of the goalies with the same amount of games played and he's in the top (also LQ is there so hence the low amt of starts). I would rather get rid of the king as horrible as that sounds

That is why I was interested more in the GSAA per game.

I mean he's 10th in the NHL right now with 7.7 with only starting 13 games.

Must have had a banger of a game, was sitting at 4.x just a couple days ago. Either way I was looking at the past 3 years.

His last 4 games in the past 9 days
12/8/19 - W 5-0 Vegas 38 saves
12/6/19 - L 2-1 MTL 33 Saves
12/5/19 - W 3-2 CLS 45 Saves
11/30/19 - W 4-0 NJD 33 Saves

I watched the Vegas, Columbus and New Jersey games -- safe to say that even with Hank in net we wouldn't have won. Look at his highlights from the Columbus game if you want to be amazed
