Why on earth would the Canes do this? I just don't see how a -33 player is worth a former 1st rounder playing pretty well in the AHL, a 1st round pick and a good AHL veteran D (who is also the captain of the AHL team).

So youre saying a player is bad based on +/- while playing for a team that's horribly constructed? That's not his fault. Hes still a speedy top 6 forward

It’s still a drastic overpay for AA. Gauthier+1st is a Premium price to pay for a second tier player. While I’m not arguing the fit, the reality is that you are saying (with the package you’re giving up) that AA is going to be a fixture in the top 6, and will produce high end numbers.

laugh laugh Yeah maybe AA is a -33 player because of the trash he plays with, Do you honestly thin that he'd be a -33 player if he were playing with Larkin and Mantha. People need to give up this +/- crap it means absolutely nothing.

I think this is just a misunderstanding of value and need. The hurricanes could make a play for AA but the value is what he is right now and age. Goat is younger and in my opinion a slightly lower class player than AA but the gap in value is relatively close. I think maybe Goat a second and somebody who will not work out in Carolina but maybe somewhere else. Its not a bad idea, and the fit is a good one on the surface just a misunderstanding of value
