I generally take this kind of rumour crap with a grain of salt. If it is not coming from a legitimate source, I disregard it as just cyber-fluff. (I don't consider this a legitimate source).

I thought it was interesting given the chatter that has recently been discussed in here. I would be interested in hearing the Blue fans perspective on this, even though it is all just made up click bait crap IMO.

Again, this is just regurgitated internet speak. I would not make this trade if it were available from a Leafs perspective.

For the purpose of this exercise, and before everyone chimes in attacking the roster, I have only included Horton and Clarkson on the Leafs LTIR list. I moved Cody Ceci to the minors for financial reasons.

And yes, yes, yes.... I still think they need a backup goalie. Hutchinson remains at present so he is included here.

nhl trade rumors is page that is full of crap. Leafs said no to Nylander for Pietrangelo swap last year and Nylander wasnt even signed at that time. No..

When Nylander was unsigned, the Blues offered Pietrangelo for Nylander in a 1 for 1, which the Leafs turned down because they felt Nylander has a lot more growing to do and is only 23 while Pietrangelo is going to be 30 and needing a major new contract. Pietrangelo is not being traded to the Leafs in season.

Unless Pietrangelo is signed by the Leafs, that is an overpayment. Nylander has been playing well. I can’t see the Leafs moving him.

Agreed. Even then, I still think it is an overpayment by the Leafs.

What a horrible trade for the leafs. Nylander is worth far more than petro due to term and age. Giving up Lilly with a 2nd gives up 10 years of control over skilled players for months of petro and the possibility of signing an overpriced contract for a player leaving their prime.

You are right. St.Louis can not afford to trade him. They will need him to make their run to repeat champs. St.Louis will absorb his absence next season.
