Miller or Risto are really the only ones that make sense. The others would need to be resigned and Leafs don't have the money of that. Although, I don't think Risto would fair too well with the Media in Toronto. Especially when he doesn't sometimes in Buffalo. I think Risto needs to go to LA xD

Jokiharju is going NO WHERE. Montour only for Nylander. Ristolainen only for a package centered around Kapanen. The rest suck. Even tho miller isn’t that bad we could trade him for a 2nd and a 5th.

Too bad Johnsson is hurt right now. Johnsson for Miller straight up could be beneficial for both.

Montour or jokiharju are the only ones worth upgrading ceci.

To be quite clear there have been many rhd Trade agm’s with sabres. Other than being in the same division they line up Wes trade partners.

Stating the obvious here, but making the cap work is the biggest hurdle for both these teams.

Looking at salaries and who could be available I would start at Risto for Nylander or Miller/Montour for a Kappanen and add from there. As a Buffalo fan, Jokiharju and Dahlin would be the only untouchable DMen organizationally. I'm sure the team thinks otherwise, that's just one internet guy's opinion.

I would do Miller+ for Kapanen. I don’t think that Risto will be interesting for Dubas and Botterill will not want to give him to an opponent in the division. Jokiharju is unavailable, Montour is likely also if he does not return a solid top 6 player, Bogosian now just looks bad.

Buffalo is a team trying to make the playoffs. Toronto is a team that is chasing them for a playoff spot. Guess who buffalo isn’t about to give a d man to?

If the Sabres stay in playoff contention I don't see Risto being traded, I would do a Miller for Kapanen trade today if it was on the table, There might be a little cap held by the Sabres and maybe an exchange of draft picks. I doubt Botterill trades Montour bc he gave up a first for him.

The cost of trading with a division rival is going to be higher, why would Buffalo feed Toronto, if theyre gighting for the same playoff spot. Unless its a clear cut W for Buffalo

Outside of Montour and Jokiharju do the Leafs want any of Buffalo's Dmen? They already have one overpaid not very good RHD, they don't need to add another. Risto is consistently awful and if the Leafs thought Miller was the answer they would have gone after him in the offseason (they surely could have offered more then the Sabres did and chose not to). If we move Kapanen or Johnsson for one of those losers that's a loss for the Leafs everytime.

So your saying a Kapanen for Miller trade wouldn't help Sabres...cap wise it works and both teams get guys that have controlled contracts. The Sabres get a much needed RW'er...forget that old school you can't trade within the division as long as you are improving your own team.

I didnt say that. I just was summarizing what Botterill will think. Toronto is a threat to Buffalo's potential. Why would you want to help bolster their weakness with out absolutely fleecing them
