Like the idea of the trade with the wild. I think it’s an overpay. Think kerfoot and a 3rd should work. Maybe leave SDA in.

What do you think @MNBassman @TanSor

No chance.

For whatever reason, the Wild are pushing on with trying to make the playoffs so they're not trading their 1C and starting goaltender.

Ignoring them trying to get bounced in round 1 in 4-6 games again, they'll find a better offer than Kerfoot and a 3rd if they choose to trade Staal. I think Guerin will keep Staal as long as he can though, he's one of those character players Guerin loves.

Certainly fair enough.

Actually, he is. 26 year old top four RHD under control for the next three years at a very respectable 3.85 AAV.

If you think that Ceci + Bracco + 3rd is worth more to the Leafs than Connor Murphy, you are absolutely crazy.

Ceci is bottom pairing guy with a huge contract, Bracco is an AHLer and the 3rd, well... is a 3rd.

Take off the Leaf goggles and get in the game bro.

Terrible, terrible homer take on your part. Get serious.

If a trade like the one suggested for Murphy ever fell into the Leafs laps and they failed to jump on it the entire management team should be dismissed.

The cap savings alone from Ceci to Murphy would be the money that they are looking for to acquire a backup.

This would make the team instantly better now and moving forward at the cost of nothing more than an over priced bottom pairing defensman, an AHL forward that the team has no room for and a mid round pick that they can easily afford to part with.

Murphy=ceci. Less money more term. If you think Murphy is going to come in and do a visibly better job than ceci you will be disappointed.

I'm actually quite glad that you spelled Ceci's name with a lower case c there. It is symbolic of his value as being less than that of Connor Murphy. There is no way on this Earth or any other that Cody Ceci would be a more valuable defensman to the Leafs than Connor Murphy would. NONE!

Better term, better AAV, better player. Hands down.

Hmmm... well don’t get me wrong I think he is a bit better. But is he that much better? To warrant giving up major assets? I don’t think so. The trade as is seems close.

As for the lower case, that’s just how I type on my phone.

Bahahaha... they’ll want nylander. There are few fans on here that can see a reasonable trade. Don’t get me wrong there are gm’s the same way. Hundreds of trades do not go through every season because someone overvalued a player. Same reason why bad contracts are signed.

From a leafs prospective I don’t see how giving up much more for a Dman like Murphy makes sense. Especially with keefes scheme.

It isn't "much" though. It is a bad contract for a bottom pairing and overpaid defensman who is a UFA at seasons end, an AHL prospect and a 2021 3rd rounder!!! That is peanuts for a top four defensman with the term and AAV of Connor Murphy. How can you not see that??? Seriously.... HOW???
