Realistic Hall

Created by: JohnConger
Team: 2019-20 Colorado Avalanche
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 9, 2019
Published: Dec. 9, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
COL
  1. Hall, Taylor ($1,000,000 retained)
NJD
  1. Helleson, Drew [Reserve List]
  2. Jost, Tyson
  3. Kaut, Martin
  4. 2021 2nd round pick (COL)
Additional Details:
2021 2nd Rnd Pick becomes a 2020 First Round Pick if Hall Re-Signs with the Avalanche. Keep in mind initially this is a RENTAL trade. This isn't a trade with 100% confidence that it will be permanent (unlike the Duchene trade). Includes two (potentially three first-rounders. That's RFA price). Drew Helleson is a D-Man who plays for BC and played for that unreal US-NTDP team last year

You've gotta think the Devils starting point is Bowen Byram or Alex Newhook.

I would consider Newhook if Hall signed an extension upon arriving to COL. I sincerely believe that the Avs would rather deal Timmins than Byram.

Absolutely they would. But where do the Devils draw the line? They want a good package for Hall, and first round picks aren't that valuable if they come from Colorado, who imo are going at least to the conference finals

There is no starting point with byram.

Do you want to win now? that's the whole point of a rental. Give up a portion of the future to win in the present. If that means Byram is gone for Hall and the Avs win the cup this year, its worth it. .

One of the best if not the best d prospect are not traded for rentals, you can’t just make up your own value for hall when there are many recent precedents of guys like stone karlsson and duchene moved and did not included nor did teams include those level prospects in trade talks

Devil fans need to wake up.

I'm a leafs fan, but if I'm Ray Shero, I don't trade Hall unless its a home run. Byram is a home run.

Then hall is going to rot in New Jersey’ bc no one sending that for him. Would you have traded marner after he was drafted for stamkos as a rental?

Swap Helleson for a conditional 1st and the 2nd for a 1st and you're right...

If my team was already a cup front runner, then absolutely. For the Avs, it has to be all about this year, because who knows what's going to happen in the future. Tampa this year is evidence of that. They dominated last year, and hardly changed a thing, and they're not even in a playoff spot right now. Parity in the NHL is far too high to throw away opportunities like this because of an unwillingness to trade a future asset.

No way COL is giving either of them up for a rental, maybe if an extension is in place then I can see them trading Newhook.

So then what ? nobody offers anything great and Hall walks for nothing at the end of the year? Because he isn't resigning.

So like I said, Hall is just going to walk for nothing at the end of the year when you can at least get a first and decent prospect in Kaut and Timmins ? Makes no sense on the Devils part.

eventually someone like Arizona would overpay imo. the Avs aren't the only team that wants hall

there are 31 teams in the league, and I bet a whole bunch of them want Hall enough to give up a blue-chipper for him

Nobody is going to overpay for Hall. He's got 6 months on his contract and is on pace for 17 goals this season. Not to mention he's had one 90 point season in his career and maybe two PPG season in his career.

Then he can rot in New Jersey, devils don’t have the leverage here.

i feel like his stats have been dragged down by the devils being bad. maybe not overpay, but someone will give more than the Avs if they don't give Byram or Newhook

Or the Devils can trade him somewhere else. The Avs aren't going to be the only team who try to acquire him

Doesn't mean they'll over pay and give up top prospects for him like Byram. Stone landed Brannstrom and 2nd round pick and that's even with him signing the extension prior to the trade.

exactly. if he doesn't get moved he'll get walk for free. why would COL give up Byram? him and Maker are going to make a crazy top pairing in 1-2 seasons time

And they are getting a byram from what other team? That’s right they won’t

Devils won’t trade him to the East, hall is going to ufa regardless l as he’s been speculated by mainstream media guys and only a hand full of west teams have the assets or zap space for hall.

There are not 29 other teams for hall, maybe 4 in the west.
