Description

I was wondering what the general consensus on Seabrook from Hawks fans, and those who have seen enough hawks games to form an opinion of his play. Please leave your thoughts /below.

Here are my thoughts

So Seabrook has not been SOOO terrible this year. He still gets burned by forwards with high end skating ability, but I have noticed much less blunders from him recently (This is key). I would attribute this to him being paired with C De Haan most of the year, who is an upgrade from who he had to play with in the bottom 4 in recent years. If you consider his current play with C De Hann, I would estimate that he is overpaid by 2-3 million dollars.

If he can keep up his trend of not sucking, I think that will be beneficial for all parties involved.

I think he is an above average 3rd pairing defenseman. Closer to 3-4 mil overpaid, but not entirely worthless like a lot of the other big contracts (I'm looking at you Lucic and Ladd). People shouldn't hate having him around as much as they do.

Has certainly improved with De Haan and allowing him a longer lifespan which is brilliant as his experience is worth so much. I mean I'm not so sure how he will go in 2-3 years but for now he is doing okay.

He's always been fine as a lower pair guy, definitely overpaid but finally has a competent partner

It is clear to me Seabs is playing better than at the beginning of the season. Paired with De Haan, it has worked.

The criticism he received has been about his speed, more his reaction time to plays, and his poor decisions or focus when clearing the puck. It has gotten better. Whether the Hawks like it or not, the club needs his experience with Keith out.

Considering the nightmare the defence was last season, it has improved a lot. The team must find away to reduce shots on net. The goaltending has been great, and their performances have been wasted with the team not being able to steal hockey games. However, that is team goal. If you have the puck, the other team can’t get a shot on net.
