Funny how leafs forwards are always down graded while other teams Dmen get upgraded.

Pesce has been having a meh season and I’ve never thought of him as much of a skilled player. Defensively smart for sure. I don’t see him as a good fit in the leafs system. I certainly don’t want to give up that much for him.

there's a decent argument to be made he's the Canes second best d man, and it's not just their system, not every defenseman has great defensive stats in CAR, he'll be just as good in TOR's system... plus he's been just as good if not better than almost every d man in TOR this year not named Muzzin iirc

Toronto is looking for offence from the Dmen and team defence in the defensive zone. Does that sound like Pesce?

I mean he's pretty good offensively, that's just not his job in CAR, if that's what TOR wants, he'll have a decent chance of putting up 40+ points depending on who he plays with and PP time etc, along with being solid defensively in his own end.
