Athanasiou is available. Asking price is currently thought to be a 1st + B/B- defensive prospect. Mantha is just as big a piece of our rebuild as anyone, he is not available.

I would look at Kreider as a rental, or Palmeri who has an additional season after this if the Flames can remain in the mix

Not entirely true, Flames have plenty of young prospects and really no interest in trading Valimaki. Trade isnt good but Vali likely isnt going the other way.

That's pretty steep, he will probably return similar to R. Strome (if both are traded) and I can't really see that being more then a 2nd + a solid B+/A- prospect + a cap relief (if needed). AA is having a really tough year, I know Detroit is bad but he is -33 currently. That will surely hurt his value like it did for Risto in the summer.

I would say a guy like Saad, Hoffman, TyJo (if he ever waived) is what CGY needs.

That's the deadline price. He has elite speed with better than average puck and finishing skills. He plays on a Detroit team that is literally setting records for the worst goal differential. AA being -33 literally doesn't matter at all.
