Way too much for Tyler Johnson. Tampa is in cap hell long term. They will be desperate to get rid of some of those semi big contracts (Johnson, Killer, Gourde, etc). Don’t need to overpay for any of them. They might be willing to do Schultz straight up to get the upgrade on the backend and get out of long term cap hit

I'm comparing him to J.T. Miller, because some other teams in the off-season would be willing to offer possibly more?

Galchenyuk has zero value to Detroit they aren't good enough for him to sign with Detroit. Green won't waive for Pittsburgh they are at the top of his no trade list.

Why is Pitt at the top? And how do you know that to be fact? Not saying the trade is good but questioning your comment

Green is well past his prime. The Pens would get a younger faster D man dangling Galchenyuk.

Yeah Detroit's not moving Green for a pending UFA in Galchenyuk that they've no need for. Don't see Tyler Johnson waiving his full NTC from Tampa to Pittsburgh either.

@MikeyThePensFan with the assist. As he said Green played most of his career in Washington and there is no love lost between Pittsburgh and Washington.

Ok but why its much easier not to trade Green for Galchenyuk. On capfriendly.com users talk about flipping players like it happens all the time but much like offer sheets it doesn't happen very much in real life.

I figured that Detroit might trade veterans at the deadline to get value because they're rebuilding, so that's why I think they'd trade him to answer your question. Point received about him being a Caps player but I think players don't always view rivalries the same way fans do especially 5 years removed. If he wants a playoff push, the closest contenders to his family in Detroit are Pittsburgh and Toronto so I would assume those are on his radar (again this is if he wants to do that, he hasn't wanted that in the past). For Detroit, I think it's easier to pull off a trade with Galchenyuk than it is with Green. That was my reason for proposing the trade, obviously 90% of all our opinions are speculative, so I'm more interested in perceived value (hence the title of the post) and my take away is that some people think ''Galchenyuk has zero value to Detroit'' and others think ''The Pens would get a younger faster D man dangling Galchenyuk.'' so I'm going to conclude that my value is fair hahaha

Well why even ask for feed back at all if you're going to dismiss it because it isn't what you want to hear.

What did I dismiss?
You said won't go because of rivalry, I said it's been 5 years and it's close to his family - I think both are valid arguments, don't you?
You said a flip doesn't happen often, I agree and I explained why I thought this trade might be a good candidate for a flip
You said it's easier to not make a deal at all, I said Detroit probably wants to trade out veterans

We're here to debate each-others opinions no?

So? Hagelin played for the rangers when the rags vs pens rivalry was at its peak and still came here. Niskanen played for the pens and has gone to both Washington and Philly. Most players care about winning and money above rivalry

Trade clauses aside I think you get Green with some salary retained for a 3rd. Which still leaves Galchenyuk to trade to a team that wants him and values him.

Pittsburgh gets Green but for Detroit to get something they want they have to trade Galchenyuk before the TDL or he just walks and they get nothing. That is why flipping players hardly happens.

Ask Sid about that rivalry he still openly admits to hating The Capitals.

Yes they'd like to but thanks to Ken Holland Detroit's older player have NTCs and ridiculous contracts.

You realize the whole Detroit blueline is held together with bandaids and ducktape.
I don't think they can even send a body anywhere if they wanted to.
On top of it. Green declines this. He has a NMC for reasons. He has little kids in school man. He's not going to go and live in pittsburgh for months while his kids and wife are in detroit and he probably isn't pulling them out and moving them. If he was a younger guy maybe. But I just don't see that happening. Things get complicated when you got a family.
