I approve this trade! However, I do believe the Canes likely offer multiple 2nd rounder first, or a condition where they keep the earlier 1st they have. The TOR 1st was the Marleau trade, so I doubt they just hand it right back without some condition.

Say if we don’t make the playoffs it goes back to you guys.

He won the backup Job during the preseason in Carolina but the Canes felt it best to give Reimer a shot.

Forsberg has been playing well in Charlotte. Seems to me he’s a very solid cheap backup option for Toronah. Not to mention, he’s better than anything the leafs have below Freddy.

I think that sounds fair. Can’t say that I would be thrilled about this trade but it does work for both teams.

No... definitely not. That is a backwards thought.

I think the later of the two firsts is fair. Protection stays on the first.

i haven't seen a ton of kapanen this year, so I'm asking for a bit of help here. Has he looked noticeably better than last year? I don't think with his play last year he warrants an NHL d man and a first.

Agreed. I also think part of the conditions should be based on whether or not TVR re-signs or not.

He actually has. Just been better with the puck and making smarter decisions. No more roll over the blueline and fire low percentage shots.

Skill wise he is about the same. Never any issues with speed an skill.

Yup, could as a 2021 3rd going back if TVR resigns.

Yes, he's been better, and don't forget TVR becomes a FA after the season which the pick balances out the value in case we don't re-sign him (personally i would make it a conditional 1st if I was CAR tho).

Agreed. I'd be fine if it was two 2nds coming back but would prefer to add a 3rd and keep the 1st.
