After everything he's done for your organization he's earned the right to retire there if he wants.

King Henrik should stay in New York and retire there - even when the rebuild was announced, he said he wanted to stay.

i would love him to be able to but trading georgiev over him would be a mistake and hank needs a cup

Outside of being a fan and wanting what most fans want to happen here, trading Georgie is the only thing that makes sense.

Both Georgie and Igor are starter-caliber (pending NHL time, which I hope Igor gets soon). If you keep Georgie, you just push the problem back a few years. Trading Hank - if you can even get him to waive his NMC and find a deal that makes sense - doesn't help much, and makes us look like fools (aka, The Devils and Broder)

If you trade Igor, then, you risk losing one of Georgie or Hank in the upcoming expansion draft, and put a stranglehold on the cap next year, since Georgie will want to get paid as he deserves.

The logical move is to trade Georgie.

To quote Sagecoll from a different post: "Lundkvist right now is 10th in the league in GSAx with a heavier work load than all in front of him except 2 goalies (Hellebuyck and Binnington), he's a top 5 goalie in the league right now and his record in the playoffs given the work load is unmatched." Unbelievable how some people rant about him like he is the worst goalie in the league...

i disagree hank needs to be the one traded he needs to go this year asap than geo and shesty will split games this year and next and than a decision will be made on whos a better starter and eventually geo or shesty will be traded ( before an expansion team comes in)

i love hank i think he can still be a very competitive goalie and if we didn't have two young studs id keep him but it isnt logical to keep a 37 year old (who deserves a cup more than anyone) over two young guys. id rather lose with a young goalie than a 37 year old

I agree that this legends needs to win a cup - but I'm not sure he'd be willing to move to get a chance. Even if he was traded to Tampa or another very good team, you're never sure to win.

No. You’re 100% wrong in this. If the NHL would let you put letters on the goalies Hank would easily 100% be rocking the C from the net. He’s been the face of the franchise and leader of this team for a decade at least. Plus he has a NMC in his contract, so if he doesn’t want to be traded, and I’d doesn’t sound like he does, you can’t trade him. Plus Hanks never don’t it for the money we he could have signed for 9-10 mil he took less and long years to stay in New York. The best option for a young team is to keep a guy like that and keep the culture of the locker room. Hank is more about what he doesn’t off the ice and what you don’t see then what he does on the ice. You’d have to wonder why NYRs haven’t named a captain the last few years, and that’s likely because the team thinks it should be Hank as captain.

Teams that might even want Hank, certainly don't want the impact of 8.5m cap hit. Either somewhat equal cap or retention going back to the Rangers.
Plus Hank's NTC...stops virtually any move. Maybe at TDL in 2021 in his last NHL season he might consider a move to true Cup contender.

Tampa is interesting though, given that Vasy is having a bad year

If he wanted to leave, he would've requested it. It's evident that being apart of your organization is more important to him than the cup.

sometimes you have to move on he deserves a cup, and yes i agree he should be the captain but trading him is the most beneficial hank wont be here for another 10 years geo and or shesty will be. also yes he wants to be here and he does have a nmc but if he was approached for a trade and he knows its better for the team hes not the type of guy to turn it down
