Description
That’s pretty much it. The sharks are to say it nicely below average. I don’t like de Boer as a coach and I think his downsides are very much coming out. If things aren’t fixed soon it could be a very long season.

Feel free to reach out to any Ontario-based fans for support. They've both gone through the pain of watching a season implode on them and delivering a high-value first to another team in recent memory.

Came here to say this.

I'm also sad that Karlsson isn't doing any better. I always had a feeling that coaching and goaltending would be the death of this team.

Couture, Hertl, Kane, LaBanc and Meier -- that's only five first-class players out of the fifteen forwards listed. Then you have Vlasic, who is first-class but signed for SEVEN MORE YEARS and the developing Ferraro, so that's a start, but the other defenders are (dare I say it) two well-past-their-prime all-stars and two spear carriers. Add in below-average goaltending and indifferent coaching, and I think this team has the possibility of being a bottom-10 finisher.

They lack depth and their goalie tandem is one of the worsts in the league.

Giving over 25 millions to 3 D-men is way too much. That number should be at 20 maximum. Plus those contracts are far from over... and Vlasic is already slowly but surely showing signs of decline

It's at least Top 10 protected lol, so if the wheels really fall off the season and it ends up a 1-10 pick then it's the Leafs pick

Sharks really do need move salary off that D core and into Middle 6 forwards. But who takes Vlasic? Does Burns garner any legit interest due to his age and contract length? Maybe move EK?

California (Seals trading their 1st round pick turned Guy Lafleur; San Jose could be stuck in the same situation) and Ontario (Leafs trading their 1st round picks turned into Seguin/Niedermayer; Sens trading their 1st round pick turned Byram; Sens trading Yashin for 1st round pick turned Jason Spezza) really changed the perception of 1st round pick trade.

I'm not over the Niedermayer trade...or Rask...or trading the picks that would end up being Rakell and Gibson for TYLER BIGGS!

And if none of those disasters happened we wouldn't of been in a position to Draft Nylander, Matthews and Marner

You are mislead. Since moving to being paired with Vlasic, Karlsson has been amazing. He just cant carry the whole team

Kind of. If the sharks made a coaching change that allowed Karlsson to play the game hes good at, you would see his point totals come back up, but right now hes doing much better.

Only been looking at the raw stats and data and a bit of highlights here and there so I can't say I've watched a whole lot of games (that and living in a different time zone). Here's hoping a coaching change comes quick and SJS are back to being contenders.

I don’t follow you guys too closely, but it looks like basically the same team as last year. What gives? The coach can’t make that big a difference?
Oh, wait, unless he is beating his players in the locker room.
