lots of players sent down - trade incoming question mark

Created by: Wingsfan09

Description
Today we sent down Zadina, Cholowski, and McIlrath. These moves sort of come as a surprise, as that leaves us with 0 scratches until Mantha and DeKeyser come back. Howard has been skating so he is probably pretty close to returning, but DeKeyser and Mantha have been out an especially long time, for us not to hear anything about them then all of a sudden be ready to go tomorrow, just doesn't seem likely. We've sent down 4 D and 1 forward to a GR team that already has too many players. One of Ericsson or Biega in your top 4 is not something that sounds like it's being done on purpose, neither of them are an upgrade over Cholowski, and I would even argue McIlrath is better than both of them as well, at the current moment. Something just seems off here, to me it just screams trade.

Why would you want your young stars to be in a locker room with a team as bad as the Red Wings? Good move

Don’t know about a trade but I think Blash loses his job if the skid hits 14

I agree, but even if we roll with this injury riddled D core for a little while at least, that still leaves GR packed with like 25 players, non of which have warranted going to the ECHL. Something has to be done about that as well.

I don't think he's gone until summer. We want to suck this year, Yzerman knows it, Blashill knows it, Yzerman is going to spend time and find HIS guy (Lane Lambert??) then announce in the summertime. I could be wrong though, we are approaching the NHL record for the most lost games in a row in the history of the NHL, and we already beat the King's goal differential last year of -61, in 50 less games. Something has to give.

I'm not sure about that arrangement, but I know you can't introduce your future to a terrible atmosphere in Detroit right now. Wreck their confidence and they may never be the same.

I don't understand why people look at the E as a punishment. Top minutes there have helped players like Jay Beagle and Colin Delia make the NHL.

Is the level of competition too low? Wouldn't that change if more teams sent better players there?

If you aren't good enough to make the AHL, the likeliness of you ever playing in the NHL are very very low.

True. Do they go up faster if you sit in an AHL press box, or if you play some pro hockey, though?

Definitely the latter, but it's not a good sign if you aren't good enough to play in the AHL.

Some guys who have played in the ECHL have made the NHL, imo it's far better to be playing somewhere then watching other guys play.

It's been going on all season long. Yzerman hasn't been part of the Wings for 10yrs so the best way to see exactly what he has is giving just about every one from the Griffins a game or 2 with the Wings. Since everyone knew the Wings were going to be bad anyway it's the perfect chance to do that.

I seriously doubt Blashill gets fired.

First everyone on the Wings is playing bad AA is 5 points off pace and Larkin is 10 points off pace. Mantha and Bertuzzi are the only players are besting last years numbers.

Second Yzerman hired Cooper in Tampa and Blashill is as close to Cooper as you can get in regards to their coaching style.

The Wings lack of success has nothing to do with Blashill.

Probably have just sent all these kids down cause they don't want to expose them to anymore losing and ruin their confidence.

Maybe Stevie Y should grab the next few bodies that hit the waiver wire to fill out the lineup and keep the kids in Grand Rapids for the rest of the season cause this one is gonna be a rough one.

Really felt bad for Comrie last night, he didn't play too bad and that first one shouldn't of counted, he genuinely seems like a good kid, hopefully it works out for him with the Wings.

Holiday roster freeze is around the corner, kids are better off playing in the world's tournament, wings losing alot all relevant to sending them down. Can't see a trade doesn't make sense for the wings, if they are involved in trades it's to sell nothing more until the offseason

A month ago I would agree but the way they have been losing is hard to bear. The roster has an obvious lack of talent and they lead the league in games lost to injury but that is no excuse for the mid game collapses; it seems very game the wings will have momentum building and be playing “well,” then they give up a goal and lose all confidence and then Boom, 3 goals against in a 2 min span. But what is really the deciding factor in my eyes is that the development of most of our players seems to be lacking; case and point the demotions of Cholo, Zadina, and Bowey. AA has been abysmal, and Larkin has been a let down as well (although he has improved in “some” areas).
