Detroit accepts the Bowey deal. I don't know about the Svechnikov/Smith deal. Svechnikov I think is available, but IDK about Smith. I'm sure he isn't NOT, but I just don't know. He's projected to be like a 3rd/4th line grinder than can chip in once in a while. It doesn't sound bad to me though, we need LHD dearly

With Carlson scoring on a 100 point pace now that he's playing even zone starts and a bit less PK, I can't imagine him taking a jersey away from Jensen or Gudas while they're healthy.

I think maybe Bowey was rushed into the NHL and needs more AHL time to develop his penalty killing, checking, crease clearing, and defensive zone positioning.

If he gets all that stuff just a little bit better, yeah, of course I want his offense back, plus it'd be great to add another possible call-up who knows the team, knows the head coach, and can just step right in and play.

And next fall, who knows?

These are very well thought and decent trades! Terrific job! I had a question BTW check out this post I just made https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/1536706 and let me know if Washington has any cap dump they might be willing to trade away along with futures this off-season to create some flexibility because I know that you guys are pretty tight to the cap.

Awesome. If it's not a right-away need, I think Johansen's points/game the last two years track pretty well against other 19 and 20 year old AHL defensemen, and he should be a good option. If you just need someone right away, there's aways Djoos.

edited to ask: if not Smith, maybe Lindstrom? Or am I just going for too much value; what could balance it?

Thanks so much. I'm sure when you get around to posting your team, it'll be pretty darn good, too!

I don't see the Caps paying to move out any contracts before the expansion draft, when maybe they give a 3rd round pick to send Oshie to his birth state to play out the inexpensive final years of his medium-cap-hit contract as a team captain.

edit: but another Caps fan on here suggested Roussel for Panik the other day, if you're just looking for ideas in general.

From the Capitals side, I can see why they might want to get a RHD they are familiar with but wonder if they could just get Bowey back with either just the prospect or pick? No big deal either way...

Wondering about Svechnikov being available? What's his issue(s)? I think the Caps should do something like this just to get another forward prospect in the system...as they are thin.

I don't think Svechnikov is particularly available, but the Wings have a dozen better NHL LWs right now, and they're looking for LHD prospects.
