I would never ever trade a top 5 pick for Byram (or Dach or whoever went 5)

I would have drafted Byram and draft one of byfield, Lundell, or Lapierre in 2020. Byram-boqvist would be a top d pairing for the next decade

I don't know thats a tough one. I think Its still a No by the Avs. There isn't a top Dman like Byram who you can justify to take at 3 right?

and from what's been talked about in Avs circles, they were dead set on taking Dach at 4 and wanted him bad.

I think Drysdale is better in every aspect of the game

not im up on this years draft class bc I am not cheerleading a Sens pick to a Top 5 one haha. But thats pretty high praise bc of just how highly regarded Byram is and his overall complete game. Offensive Defensive and physical

Yeah I’m pretty high on Drysdale, he’s so damn impressive. I also feel like Byram has some things to do to straighten up on defense, he’s still legit af and is far better than the 2nd best d in this class though

yup, bc he has a quicker path to the NHL since Turcotte was already committed to NCAA.

still cant believe that Mortiz Seider was the 2nd Dman picked. I think hes a fine D prospect but at 6?

again...dont know much about the Top prospects this year, but that would make it interesting. IF the avs didn't have Justus Annunen in their system I think that would be a very tempting hypothetical swap

I think the problem is that Chicago was in a far different spot than Colorado. Colorado had a position where if they got dach, he’d be a perfect, fully sheltered 3C behind mackinnon and kadri. I do think they would have had the sense sent him back to the W, but who knows.

However, in Chicago’s case, desperation drove the decision more than logic. I will say, I truly believe that turcotte has a far higher ceiling than dach. Turcotte could average 80+ points a year and be a energetic two way dynamo once at his peak. However, dach getting 60 a year and being passable as a two way center would be enough for me. Having said that, Chicago panicked and took what was ready now versus what was best for the future. I don’t really understand what Colorado’s interest in dach was in all honesty, since they already have the landeskog-rantanen archetype filled up. However, the second that Chicago took him, everyone knew (or should have known) that it was meant to be a fix now with a lower ceiling versus taking the time to have a truly elite player in turcotte. I hate the choice as a hawks fan, but I do have to live with it, and have to deal with turcotte on the kings and byram on the Avs. Yea, it’s a bad future for Chicago.

Best case scenario for the hawks would be to finish bottom 7 and draft one of Raymond or holtz.

Here’s my problem: fire bowman and mark Kelley first. Then worry about the draft. Fire Colliton too obviously. But as it stands, I don’t either one of these jackasses after the way they handled the 2019 draft.

Instead Byram-Makar will be that top d pairing in the Rockies...
