Rangers would keep Georgiev and not trade him, then trade him for two 3rd round picks. Georgiev is a number one goalie... If Toronto isn't willing to give up in trade what's required to acquire a number one goalie, then trade for a backup goalie. Two 3rd round picks for Georgiev is an insult and Gorton would wonder why Toronto thinks so little of his intelligence.

While I agree with you the Georgiev is worth more, it's finding multiple suitors that will bump up the selling price that is the issue. If Rangers are committed to promoting Sheskerin and keeping Lundquvist next October. what are their options for Georgiev.?

If no market for Georgiev before the trade deadline, trade him at the draft. And if there is still no market for him, which I highly doubt, hold on to him and have three goalies on the roster. If a team gives him an offer sheet... Kick that teams as$ with offer sheets the following season with offer sheets of your own when so many players come off the books. Though I'm not sure if he's even able to be given an offer sheet because he's not eligible for arbitration.

You're right the option of carrying three goalies is still there. Rangers really have cap issues next season between the issues of buyouts and upcoming RFA signings. Buying out Hank saves 3m next season but costs 1.5m in 21/22. Is that an option? Hank might accept a trade to contender in his final year, with maybe the Rangers 4m

I don't want to buy out Hank! Hank should be a Ranger for as long as he wants to be a Ranger, unless he's not competent anymore or a drooling Vegetable - but that's just common sense. If he request a trade and waives his NMC because of a three goalie rotation - great! I don't see Georgiev complaining and Shesterkin will be happy to just be in the NHL and playing every 3rd game.

Keeping Hank as long as he wants? Maybe that's the Ranger policy (see Glen Sather).happy

Could very well be their policy (see Lindy Ruff as well). Maybe they should also hire an assistant for Ruff, like NYR did for Glen Sather with Jeff Gorton. I say higher Larry Playfair - Him and Ruff were D-partners together for like a hundred years. They were actually my favourite D-pair of all time... Playfair and Ruff! If anything else it could become the new motto for the Rangers Defence.

Georgiev is not a number one goalie. He's a young goalie who's played pretty well at times and is going to want his shot at a starters job. Goalies don't have all that much value and if traded in the offseason (as above) I doubt he returns more than a second.

Also the Rangers aren't keeping him and Lundy through next year. They have their Uber goalie prospect to bring up

I like how you know what the happiness of these goalies will be. Shesterskin has dominated everywhere he's been. He's going to want to have his NHL shot.

No team in the last 10-20 years to my knowledge has carried 3 goalies that play beyond a few weeks. So I doubt it happens.

Shesterkin is waivers exempt, so he could still get games in at the AHL in-between starts as he transitions to America and the NHL.

I like how you know the unhappiness of having three goalies and that you think the Rangers will give Georgiev to Toronto for pennies on the dollar. Don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen. Most teams over that period didn't have three number one goalies at the stage of careers of these three.

I never commented on anyone's happiness.

Anyway check out what Talbot got you guys

Quote:
Talbot went to the Oilers, for whom he projects as their No. 1, in exchange for the 57th, 79th and 184th picks in the draft, the 209th going west to Edmonton. The return appears skimpy measured against the bounty Sather seemed certain he could extract for the goaltender who was so valuable as Henrik Lundqvist’s understudy.

Talbot was way better for new York then Georgiev has been.... He got a very late 2nd, a late third and a seventh with like an 8th going back...

Their ages are different. Better than two 3rd's. We'll see, NYR might hold on to him.
