quick has been one of the worst goalies in the nhl for years. this helps LA way more than it helps the devils.

No way is Kovalchuk waiving his NMC to go back to the Devils, He wanted out of NJ period. And the Devils are probably heading towards a rebuild here. And a aging injury plagued Quick isn't the answer.

"Hey NJ, Do you want a bad goalie on a bad contract and to bring a guy who has already ****ed you over once back into influence a bunch of young kids?"

"Nah, were cool."

So who is the scoring forward? Kovi prorated is on a pace for 14 goals. Hard to believe a "scorer" prorated would be on pace for 45 points this season, and his plus/minus would be higher, a minus 50 but that is Kovalchuk this year.
Quick and Kovalchuk and their 12m cap hit.....Kings add their top 3 pick, Devils don't send anything to the Kings.

I think that you all missed the character of this post when you read right past "Kings get cap relief."

I don’t think the Kovalchuk trade makes any sense but I love the entitlement going on here, like New Jersey’s s**t doesn’t stink this year or anything. I don’t blame people on the east coast for not being up to date on western conference teams and players but Quick had a bad year last year(who didn’t under Willie Desjardins)and had a rough first 6-8 games this season but the past 10-15 games he’s looked like his old self and could help many teams with playoff aspirations. All his previous seasons he had solid numbers and a winning record in all of the seasons except last year. It’s easy to look at his numbers and be short sided about his play, especially if you don’t watch him regularly. The Kings aren’t good record wise but they’ve experienced growing pains under a new coach/system but playoff contention isn’t far off. They’re the fourth best corsi team in the league currently and are in the top half of the league in many other statistical categories. Success will come and I for one can’t wait for them to return to the team they once were
