Trying to fix this hot mess

Created by: TheChief
Team: 2019-20 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 12, 2019
Published: Dec. 12, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Trades
1.
DET
  1. Bjugstad, Nick
  2. Murray, Matt
  3. 2020 3rd round pick (PIT)
  4. 2021 2nd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
So first things first, DET needs a goalie for future. They have no prospects to take Howard's place, and Bernier and Comrie can't really be trusted to take the 1G slot. Murray is a handy option with the rise of Jarry. Being a RFA, DET should be able to sign him long-term. He's a cup winner and have proven that he can be a solid goalie, despite having a somewhat off season.

Bjugstad is involved as PIT need to create some cap space to make this trade work.
PIT
  1. Athanasiou, Andreas
  2. Howard, Jimmy ($2,000,000 retained)
  3. Nemeth, Patrik
Additional Details:
Pens seem to be going for it this year. A speedy versatile forward, good bottom-4 shutdown D and a replacement goalie for Murray should be what they need. Crosby, Guentzel and AA could form a terrific line with speed and skill.
2.
DET
  1. Turris, Kyle
Additional Details:
I'd take a punt on Turris. Nielsen isn't better, but his contract is shorter and they seem to have given up on Turris.
3.
DET
  1. Anderson, Josh
  2. Dubinsky, Brandon
  3. Harrington, Scott
Additional Details:
In order to pry Anderson out of CBJ, DET takes one of their bad contracts in Dubinsky. This might be a lucrative option for them, as they get more money to re-sign Dubois and other RFAs. Harrington works as a 3rd pair D that signed for a few years.
CBJ
  1. Comrie, Eric
  2. Daley, Trevor ($1,583,333 retained)
  3. Glendening, Luke
  4. Rasmussen, Michael
  5. 2020 3rd round pick (SJS)
Additional Details:
CBJ gets a good load of assets. Rasmussen brings them a former first round pick prospect who needs a restart. Glendening is a cheap 4th line C that can replace Dubinsky (or possibly Anderson if they choose to use him as a winger). Daley works as a bottom-pair D and with half retained his cost isn't that bad and they also receive a goalie that might be picked off waivers after the previous Murray trade, if DET chooses to assign him to AHL. CBJ has probably the most nameless goalie tandem in the league, and adding Comrie could benefit them. Also they have use for picks.
4.
DET
  1. 2020 4th round pick (DET)
TBL
  1. Erne, Adam
Additional Details:
Yeah you can have him back. Didn't work out for us. We'll take our pick back, ok?
5.
DET
  1. Gauthier, Julien
Additional Details:
DET need a right wing prospect.
CAR
  1. Svechnikov, Evgeny
Additional Details:
CAR unites some Svechnikov brothers.

Might as well tank for a lottery pick, and sign like 5 of the top free agents with all the cap space they have.

I dunno how any of these moves are bad for Wings though.
