Rangers are over the cap next year with their RFA signings. Having 6m Backes just adds more pain. Not saying it isn't a bad trade or that Backes has Rangers on his trade list.

Bruins say No. Call back and ask you to meet them in Siberia to work deal out. They Never show up.

Strome is not good. Bruins don't need to move Backes' money.

Very unlikely. Despite Strome having a good season, he's not worth a 1st. Adding yet another prospect in the same value and a contract NYR can't even afford would cause nothing but problems.

Ummmhhhh 16.5M cap space without cap increase to resign Lemieux, DeAngelo (who could be traded cause of depth chart) and Strome (who’s traded in this post) How would they be over the cap?

Can Boston afford to resign Krug, Debrusk and keep depth for a Stanley cup run next year with Backes money?

Sorry, I should have elaborated. They don't need to move his money this year. His real money is only 3m(next), so those players become more attractive to teams that need to make it to the floor. Low real money, but a 6m cap hit. His NTC also turns to half the teams in the league next year. It will cost them something, but it really shouldn't be much more than a B prospect or mid round pick. Or they could just buy him out. His cap hit would be 4m and 1m, so they would get relief (2m) without giving up any assets.

To answer your question - Yeah they could. They have about 17m for Krug 6.5m, Debrusk 5.5m - that leaves about 5m for Bjork, Gryzelcyk & maybe Chara - which probably isn't enough, but that's with Backes still on the Books. Move Moore and buyout Backes and they have close to another 5m. Also, that's with the current Cap.
