This wont work. One of the reasons Trouba didnt want to re-up with the jets was because his girlfriend is in school to become a doctor in the states. there was also a rumour that his dad cant cross the border

Does Trouba not have a full NMC?

That may be true but if he doesn't have trade protection is there anything he can do about it?

the rangers have no need for cody ceci. From a rangers perspective our D core is coming in next year or two most likely(Nils and K'Andre) and have plenty of B-B+ defensive prospects (Rykov, Robertson, Lindgren). Im not big on trading buchnevich but if you could retain 1 mil on nylander and make his cap hit 6 mil i would take it.

Also 8 million is way to much for Trouba and if he was making 6-6.5 i don't see a need to trade him.

Ceci is probably just in the trade to make the money work for the Leafs, he's expiring so no commitment for the Rangers, could probably flip him for a late pick at the TDL.

Ceci's value is pretty low so for all intensive purposes let's just omit him from the trade altogether.

Nylander does NOT equal Trouba AND Buchnevich. I think many people would be hard pressed to accept Nylander 1 vs 1 for Trouba.

Yes he will simply refuse to play. Continue to live in New York and Dubas will look stupid

Why be concerned about Ceci. He's just a cap leveller for this year. Rangers lose on the deal. Trouba almost 7 years till UFA, Nylander just almost 5 years. It's debatable but Trouba is probably more valuable on the ice. And why would the Leafs want to trade for a player for who is unhappy with his new location.

Who looks stupid? So Trouba quits pro hockey and loses over 50m. Trouba knew the CBA rules when he signed the first NHL contract. But I agree with you, why trade for an unhappy player.

Yeah and that's probably what he'd do but he'd be breaking the terns of his contract so it'd be terminated wouldn't it?
Since this is all hypothetical in the end it'd be Nylander for Buchnevich, cap savings for the Leafs I guess.
