I honestly don't even think that scratches the surface of a potential Barkov deal - he is on one of the best deals in the league and is one of the top centers in the league. You would have to overpay for that and this package is an OK defenseman, a late 1st, and two prospects. It would take something like Pastrnak for FLA to even consider trading him. I think Barkov is a Panther for life.

What is he worth?

That is a pretty decent Haul
a projected 1st pairing Dman
a top 4 dman
a 1st
and a player that will probably be comparable to Trocheck. 1c/2c

What if an additional 1st is included?

I think FLA will have a hard time when Barkov's deal is up resigning him. Too much big money in other places.

They only have one player over $7.5m currently -- yeah they have an overpaid goaltender, but that's it. We'll see what happens with Dadanov and/or Hoffman this offseason - but they don't have many overpaid players. And Barkov would be the priority over anyone else on that roster. They won't trade him unless they get a ridiculous overpay, and even with two 1sts, this package is not it.

Boston doesn't really have the prospects besides Urho Vaakienen to acquire a superstar like Barkov. McAvoy would have to be in this deal

Yeah, They need other roster players though. Dadynov and Hoffman are both Pretty good. If you let them go - who replaces them? If you re-sign them, they probably get 6m+
You still have to worry about Huberdeau. That Bob Contract is going to kill them. Especially if he continues to play this way.

I dont' think you are giving Studnicka and Beecher enough Credit, but point taken. Bruins won't move McAvoy. If it's McAvoy, it would be straight up.

I think your thought process makes sense - they will start to have to pay their top guys and that will mean a tighter cap. But they will gladly let go of Dadanov and/or Hoffman before they even consider trading Barkov. Don't often see a captain traded in their prime.

Yeah, I've been trying to figure out how to get him on the Bruins for years. Figured Vaak and Stud would delay their money. I don't see any world which they win/make the playoffs through Barkov's current contract.
I think he is an UFA when it's up too. After Isles lost Tavares for nothing, I would think other teams wouldn't make that mistake. At least this way, they have 1-2 additional 1st rd picks and a top pairiing LD and a #2 center you hope can develop into a #1

Barkov is literally one of the best players in the league. If any team could just take three 1st rounders (two drafted and 1 pick) plus a 4-5 dman for a guy like Barkov, believe me every team would be doing it.

The only player that is on Barkov's level in terms of ability/age/contract/etc is Pastrnak....

Would you trade Bergeron for this haul if he were about 6 years younger?

Why would he want to leave? He has Russian players there, the tax breaks, great weather, a solid team built to compete. And they'll pay him whatever he wants.

It would have to be a massive overpay and this is hardly that. Barkov isn’t going where. He loves Florida and has stated he wants to be a Panthers his entire career.

1. He’s not Russian.
2. There’s been no indication he’ll be able to win there.
3. Florida has the long history of paying their UFA’s or something?
4. It’s Florida. Biggest trash bag state in the country.
5. A lot of players want to play in traditional hockey markets.

If he had signed for 8 years off his entry level deal, I’d have more faith in his desire to stay. He signed a deal that took him to UFA quickly, and he sacrificed money for that.

I don't see any reason they won't give him his UFA deal. I suspect he'll get 11-13 mil for term.

Has any player with three years left on his deal said, “I can’t wait to get out of here.”

The list of players that have said, “i want to be here for my entire career,” and then left in free agency is a really long one.

He signed before he broke out offensively. Florida is spending money since Tallon came in. I don't see any reason to say he'll leave.

BAHAHAHAHA!

I don't think you understand how good Barkov is. Would you trade McAvoy straight up for Pasta? Barkov is a little MORE valuable than Pasta...

It may not be enough, but this kind of reaction makes me think you don’t know who any of these players are. This is a huge bounty. Would be the biggest return we’ve seen in trade in a decade.

dont get me wrong they are good players. but Barkov is arguably a top 5 player in the NHL. hes in the top tier of 2 way forwards in the NHL. . hes also making half of what he should be making.

History of the team should only be considered under current ownership/management and they are clearly spending and trying to win. So I don't think history speaks against it

I don't know Barkov personally, so I think its just as likely he wants to be in a warm non hockey hotbed where he can enjoy the weather and be anonymous, then be a star in a hockey hot bed. Both have appeal to different people, and I don't see how we could know which appeals to him more.

Until I see reasons otherwise, I'll assume he'll stay

This is what Barkov says on the Russia/Finland issue - “I’m Russian, but I’m not as Russian [as people who lived there] and same thing with Finnish guys,” Barkov says. “So, I’m kinda in the middle. I grew up in Finland and have a Finnish mentality, but all my family and the blood and everything is Russian. Actually, it’s hard to say which one I am, so I say I’m both.” -- so we're both right I suppose.

On everything else, you are just projecting your feelings about the state of Florida and their team lol -- just relax man. He has 3 years until he is UFA and he is playing on a really solid team. He won't be trade this season, and he won't be traded next season. Sure anything can happen, but I don't see FLA wanting to move on from Barkov anytime soon
