Well let's be honest, this is solid offer that fills a lot of our needs. @villenash already brought it up and my reasoning for why Habs wouldn't do it is because Ekholm will be 30 in May and the age gap is just too much for the Habs to do this trade IMO.

Now..... if Granlund is added and let's say he is willing to resign for a decent rate, i think I may have to think about this one for a while.

I saw it... but he was getting Chucky (UFA) +4th & 7th for Granlund ... a very low return...
Even if doesn't sign back, we will have Caufield who will need top6 space

But getting Ekholm would be the IDEAL guy to play with Webby

For me the caveat is Granlund resigning. Ekholm is almost 30 years old. his best seasons are starting to be behind him. Domi could still hit 70+ points for another 4-5 years... Like I said, Domi 1 vs 1 for Ekholm I think I would pass on. Add Granlund with the idea that he resigns a decent contract and all of a sudden I'm a little more on board.

With a signed Granlund attached, I think the Preds would probably want a better piece than Kulak - but I think the general deal around Ekholm + Granlund for Domi, pick+ still makes sense and could be beneficial for both teams (given that NSH has another trade for a top 4 D to fill in Ekholm's spot). I've always loved Armia, but I doubt MTL has any inclination to trade him -- especially if they make this play with Domi.

still doesn't make sense. if ekholm was 24-25, sure we can consider it. but as of now trading a 23 year old 70 point C for a 30 year old and granlund who is a better at center than wing, doesn't make sense for mtl. yes we need a left shot D, but trading Domi will only create a whole upfront. on top of that, the team gets older. both granlund and ekholms best years are behind them. domi's are still coming. bad trade

NOT with Danault 1C, Suzuki2C, 3CKK, Peohling ... I do believe that we can get a good fish trading Domi

You can't make Domi a year younger and ekholm a year older than they actually are - that's disingenuous. Domi turns 25 this season and Ekholm turns 30. Your point still stands, so no point in not just being honest about it

I agree - the age gap is the sticking point
