Sabres and Ducks fans - thoughts

Created by: GenericUsername489
Team: 2019-20 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 13, 2019
Published: Dec. 13, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
This trade is just a baseline.

I think the Ducks have a lot of centres coming up through the system so the Henrique contract that is an overpay already, becomes even worse when the kids are ready. Ducks need wingers and Sheary is a middle 6 winger on a slight overpay contract. Ducks also need a better right side on the back end so Bogo heads over to help out there.

I have no faith in Mittelstadt to become a 2C so Henrique will help out Buffalo's biggest need. Sabres clear out Bogo and Sheary for cap space. I think Buffalo needs to make the playoffs to at least give a little bit of hope to their fans and I think Henrique could be that piece.

Let me know your thoughts about what to add for either side.

So the same reason to why the ducks wouldn't want henrique, is the same for the sabres position.

Well tbf Henrique has been really good this year, i wouldn't trade him unless we get a decent usable asset back for more than this year

I think Cozens is the only future 2C out of their prospects and in this scenario he would be 3C for at least next season. I think the Ducks have more potential top 2C's in the organization in Steel, Lundeström, and Groulx.

This is an easy no for the ducks. 2 UFAs that have minimal value for a guy that is over paid but not egregiously yet. He’s on pace for about 20 goals this season and has played some wing lately. Sheary won’t play over any of the young wingers the ducks have. And I know this might come as a surprise but Gudbranson has actually been solid with the ducks. The right side need isn’t there anymore in the present and Bogo is only a now band aid.

I’d expect the ducks to basically nothing the rest of the season trade wise. Maybe minimal moves for the older bottom line players (Rowney, Holzer, MDZ, Shore). In the offseason I’d expect some decent moves to improve the team’s scoring and/or RD help.

The only trade I would make involving Adam Henrique would get Victor Olofsson, Henri Jokiharju and the 2020 first coming back. We might have to add something or someone (maybe Devin Shore or Jacob Larsson), but Henrique really is a #1 or #2 centerman at what is actually a reasonable price for that commodity.

Henrique doesn't get you Olofsson OR Jokiharju, never mind both. He might get a first but there wouldn't be anything added besides someone of little to no value to dump cap. I don't know if there's a team in the league where Henrique is 1C; Minnesota is arguable, Ottawa maybe since this season is such an anomaly for Pageau but that's it. Most teams have 1 guy better but there are places like Pitt, Tor, Bos, Edm, Wsh, etc. where he doesn't even crack the 2C spot.

We're not talking about being a team's #1C, or being the #2C on the five teams you mention; we're talking about being the #2C on a playoff-cusp team that desperately needs one and won't have one come up internally for at least this season.

And regarding your opinion that Henrique is overpaid, he's paid less than the #2C's on the Islanders and Carolina, to mention two playoff teams in your Conference and on which he WOULD be the #2C.
