Stamkos is now a winger .. 12th year .. horrendous defensively .. fulltime winger now with Cirelli as 2C

Johnson is awful and out of town soon .. Stephens is another shrimp .. as is ABB who hasn't played a shift in NHL .. ALL are small shrimps NOT the 3C we need.

It amazes me how non Tampa fans here on CAP friendly have illusion of this abundence of Tampa talent .. It really doesn't exist .. other than Hedman ALL other defensemen where from trades/FAs and there is NOT ONE Cruncher who anyone believes will be in top 6 in their career .. and worse is they all shrimps that cant play 3rd and 4th line defensive/physical roles. Yzerman really screwed this team with the small/fast approach .. as we watched Caps win easy last night with Tom Wilson on 1st line.

Not a Lightning fan but an objective hockey fan who cheers for the Jets but I gotta agree with you, your Lightning team is small up front and has become redundant and stale, too many of the same players which coincidentally is the same problem the Jets have imo, gonna sound old school but not enough board bangers/drive to the net bang home the garbage goals type of players.

I think the Tampa needs a retool quick while Stammer still has some good years left in him, gonna be tough to work with all those NMC'S and NTC’S though.

As a Leaf fan, I hardly want to dump on the success/talent of the Lightning. But you bring up some good points. How really successful has Tampa been since they got the # 1 and #2 picks in draft, Stamkos and Hedman? Twelve seasons, 10 playoff round wins, one Conference Finals wins. Missed the playoffs four times. Average to good would be my report card. Don't know Yzerman has been perceived as some GM genius. Seemed like he left when the those NTCs are really going to constrain Tampa next summer.

Tampa did have a Cup appearance and lost to Chicago.. they over achieved that year and I think it started this whole " wow their young and their going to be good for next decade mindset" .. the two conference losses were both blown 3 to 2 leads .. so 2 clinching game losses on home ice with TWO shutouts vs. Caps in Ganes 6 and 7 .. No need to talk about last year HISTORIC collapse.. and yet we have same wimpie coach and leadership.. it is interesting this year on how seats are empty more than in years past .. just think no one buying the whole story anymore

Any comments on trade?

I've always been a Bonino fan and he's the kinda center you want for a playoff run, not sure about the value of that prospect you're offering up but Bonino is having one hell of a season, doubt Nashville wants to move him, not sure what the problem is with the Preds though cause that's a decent team on paper.

Preds are in a win mode, and have cap room, so I assume that 4m Bonimo is OK for the Preds. I'd be more worried about Tampa acquiring more cap for next year. I just don't see an escape for those NTC or even M NTCs contracts. Those players Killorn, Gourde, Johnson, Palat, Stamkos, McDonaugh really have no motivation to move and even the modified NTC can be arranged go make them untradeable.
Tampa and their other teams will want to sellers next summer, but how many real buyers are there?

Jankowski is being run out of town by fans in CGY (I personally think he has value bit a lot of others dont). Hes relatively cheap amd wont cost too much next year. Likely just needs a change of scenery and would probably be a good fit

Also thought Janokowski made alot of sense .. With Tyler Johnson going to Calgary .. near his hometown .. both get restarts.. but it seems to me a HUGE stretch for Janokowski to elevate like Charlie Coyle did for Bruins 3C last year after trade .. hence Bonino but Jankowski could be fall back and we rid of TJ and oversized contract

Quick note: Stephens is 1.83 m (6 feet) x 90 kg (~200 lbs) . Definitely not a shrimp.

Oh christ come on .. like physical stats are exact and ALWAYS skew to smaller in real life.. and come on .. you better than this to try to play this card .. another shrimp clone with marginal talent that cant create .. we must have 10 now .. maybe we should trade for JT Miller who would be #1 scorer if on Tampa .. ?????

Lmao what? Do you write your posts with the tinfoil hat on?
Imagine being angry at a ROOKIE after he played his first 4 games in the NHL. A rookie who showed flashes of ability to create offensively, was responsible defensively and won 18 of 26 face-offs (69.2%).

He was sent back to Syracuse because he will get more minutes there as he rounds out his game. He was more than adequate here and have no doubts he will be back sooner rather than later. Tampa has obviously had some problems changing systems this year and I still believe this is Cooper's final year if the team misses playoffs or goes out early. They have plenty of C depth and when Johnson comes back there's another option at 3C(although he has struggled this year, no doubt). Cooper needs to coach to the teams strengths, which, as we've seen, is a fast paced, high octane offensive style that is willing to trade high danger chances, not a heavy, defense first style that Tampa simply isn't built to play. The biggest problem though has been the terrible play from Vasi. He has been nowhere near the level of goaltender that the bolts need him to be. He is getting outplayed by the other team's goalie almost every night. Tampa outplayed the Caps for a large part of that game, but Vasi ruined any chance they had in a 45 second span early in the 3rd. Unfortunately this sort of thing has now happened 6 or 7 times at least and it is a serious problem. The season isn't lost because the Atlantic is laughably bad this year, but if things don't change soon, this team is out in rd 1 or 2 at best.
