Hall fit

Created by: Oiler3535
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 15, 2019
Published: Dec. 15, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
I'm going off the Friedman reporting that no team is offering A level prospects for Hall.

So I actually think this is an overpay by Toronto for a pure rental.

But I'm guessing I'm about to have a bunch of people say this is a wildly cheap price to pay for Hall.

On the hockey side, imagine 3 skill players on one of the top 2 lines? Would be amazing.

Like you said, huge under pay for Hall. Any deal involving him will have a first.

Kapanen worth more than a low first. Much more.

Kapanen is a middle 6 winger, which is less than any team wants their first round pick to be reguardless of if its the 30th. Not to mention that Liljegren is not an A list prospect. He has been in the AHL for 3 year and is only just starting to put up decent numbers down there.

Any trade involving Hall will have a 1st and an A list propect or a 1st and two lower prospects.

If you'll notice in my explanation, I am going off the Elliott Friedman story where he said teams are refusing to include A prospects.

Plus, teams would be thrilled to get a guy worth a decent 2nd or 3rd contract from a late 1st round pick. The odds of a late 1st round pick even playing 100 NHL games is like 30%. Barely more than a 4th round pick.

And I agree Liljegren isn't an A prospect. But he's definitely B+. Top 4 RD potential.

Kapanen who hasn't doesn't play on PP much and hasn't had top 6 minutes at times this season has identical maybe even better stats than Hall this year. If the Leafs trade good assets this season (I don't think they will) it would be for a Dman, not for a LWer. Most of these trades suggested for Hall are big overpay...and this is one. Kapanen and a much needed RHD next year with years of control, way more than the already winger abundant Leafs would give up for Halll

Sorry, 50% to play 100 games. But it's a fit curve. Look at actual numbers and goes from really high in top 15 or so then plummets below 30.

As I said I agree it's an overpay. But, it's an instance of buying a need (skilled LW) from a position of excess (skilled RW). I like Kapanen a lot, but I believe he's wasted in a bottom 6 role. All the hot takes are rightfully about Hall hence why I did this. But, I do agree. If trading Kapanen I'd prefer it for a defensive RD. As both an oiler and leaf fan I'd actually like Kapanen + for Larsson.

Maybe Doobie should focus more on:
1) D-fense,
2) D-fense and,
3) The Playoffs + D-fense

Before trading any assets, for a "rental" forward, who will surely walk to FA on Apr 4th (T.O's last regular season game) all-the-while Hall has just 6-goals for C - sake!

TO's need is = to keep their 'net' from looking like a gaping Russian trawler sweeping the 200-mile limit off the Grand Banks! The need is not another washed-up forward (remember - Marleau was just sent packing and delivered more if you ask me)...

"Yee who forget the past, is doomed to repeat it!"

You are absolutely insane. Marleau delivered more? Seriously? Do you look at any stats beyond goals? Hall is an elite forward who has had injury issues the last year or so. Point per game, positive Corsi rel, 96 PDO, but ya. Worse than Marleau who wasn't even NHL calibre the last 2 years. Brutal.

You hate Dubas and his puck possession philosophy. Fine. But don't let it give you the madness and think Hall is a bad player. He literally won the Hart trophy 2 seasons ago. Wow.

Facts, stats, analysis and every non-homer fan with bit of brains : "Leafs are GA 25th,.....SA 26th.....SCA 21th.....HDCA 26th.....PK 26th.......PP 11th"

OP :"Hold my beer".....*acquires another Forward that TML wont be able to re-sign at 10M+ next year*

Damn that whole "adding great players" philosophy. Great players absolutely make teams worse every time right? You want them to trade for Lucic I'm guessing. Or sign Kovalchuk. Or trade for Zaitzev or Hainsey again?

So which good RD is available?

Beuhler?

Marleau delivered leadership according to the twins Marner-Matt. Hall will deliver nothing. In NJ this season, he's been given every opportunity to succeed and is failing miserably. Lots of guys win awards and lots fade, that my friend is Taylor Hall. As for what he brings, 5 playoff games in a 10 year career and an expiring, rental contract, set to be re-upped for $9/10/11M US(?) - I guess he brings insanity too!

You really want them to pay big for off ice character instead of on ice skill? Go look at the stats. Hall isn't Hart candidate this year but he's still great. As for playoff games, you blame him for that? You also blame Marino, Butkus, Ty Cobb and Barry Sanders for not winning in the playoffs?

And as I said, of course it's a rental.

Besides the 1st, Arizona gave up essentially nothing of value.

Guess we'll see...50 games for a Hall tryout I spose.
Is Merkley a "Travis Konecny or Tyler Johnson"? Bahl will be on display at WJ Tourney I think and trade conditions could move the 3rd rd pick to a 1st! But by then AZ has had 'playoff success' and 're-signed' Hall for muy-million$ + lengthy term no doubt, just as he hits the tender age of 29.
AZ doesn't look to have too many issues w/ other pending UFA/RFA (Vinnie & Fischer) yadda yadda
