Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Duchene trade based on supposed availability. Fowler is a 2-3 D and the Ducks add a first. Maybe another prospect in order to get the deal done. Stoner dropped for money reasons. I gave Lindholm a 6 year deal but built the bridge deal into it. 3-3-5-6.7-6.8-7. This combine with the other over and under deals like JB and the Twins, the Ducks actually sit 2.5 mill below their cap number. This puts actual Salary around 70.4 mill. Obviously it is still pretty high. But not as bad as it looks. Last year the Ducks Spent about 67 mill in salary. Its been reported that the number would go up. Plus the money the Ducks would get from the expansion team. It might not be so unfeasible to think the budget could be this high.

Edit: It was brought to my attention that Gibson is also back loaded giving the Ducks another 800k below their cap number. putting this roster at 69.6 mill

Don't have a real issue with the trade. This team just has a really expensive 3C now. Think with Duchene's speed he could swap with Rakell?

One of Duchene's strengths is his ridiculous faceoff percentage. No way he wouldn't play center.

Yea, I really don't think Duchene is the answer at centre for the Ducks. If cap is going be a issue in the next few years...maybe Fowler or another "excess Dman could be traded for younger guys on ELCs.

Hi jmacattack. Could you explain this variance rule? Thanks.

I believe that rule only applies to decline in salary, Not increases. For example, look at Gibsons most recent deal. 1.5-2.1-3.3. From year 1 to year 2 is an increase of 40% and from year 2-3 is almost 58% increase.

I chose a proven center because we can't wait and hope for a player to be successful. I don't think there are any centers who give us a good enough chance to make a 3rd line legitimately dangerous. Spooner might be the best bet in that regard and the only player that could likely be available. LD from EDM isn't going anywhere, not is Reinhart from Buffalo. There really aren't any cheap centers that would even get close to the impact that Duchene could have on the roster. IMO.

If you can get Duchene, this looks pretty good, but even adding some prospects, I don't think Colorado does this.

If something like this does happen, this would look great. Lines would probably solid 1st, young and creative 2nd, shutdown 3rd, who knows 4th.
Ritchie / Getz / Perry
Rakell / Duchene / Silf
Garbutt / Kesler / Cogs
Raymond / Wagner / Boll

Defense looks good if Despres can get healthy.
