When doing 3-way trades, a good way to see whether the value the teams are giving up is fair when compared to what other teams are giving/getting.
NJ loses:
- Hall
- Zacha
And what they get:
- Two pending UFAs with relatively low value (Galchenyuk, Pysyk)
- Two decent prospects (Tippett, Björkqvist)
- 1st, 2nd, 3rd round picks.
Overall, I think NJ is a winner in that comparison...
FLA gets
- Hall
- Zacha
- DeSmith
And they lose
- Trocheck
- Tippett
- Pysyk
- Montembeault
- 1st
- 3rd
I think they lose way too much. Trocheck's alone worth more than Zacha and DeSmith...the amount that they have to pay for Hall is just way out of proportion.
And PIT gets
- Trocheck
- Montembeault
In exchange to
- Galchenyuk
- Björkqvist
- DeSmith
- 2nd round pick.
PIT is a clear winner here. As mentioned before, Trocheck's value is pretty high, he plays in high level with a good contract. Chucky's been pretty bad. DeSmith carries small trade value due to already being waived once, and Björkqvist and 2nd are pretty much equal. FLA should maybe consider moving Trocheck for futures if they were out of playoff picture, but that's not the case...
Overall, NJ gets good value, Pens fleeces FLA and FLA gets f*cked with a rusty crowbar.
