Gotta move someone

Created by: Christian17
Team: 2019-20 Anaheim Ducks
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 16, 2019
Published: Dec. 16, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
These trades are made primarily with the 2021 season in mind.

Cernak would probably sign for around 3-4M for 5 years.

If Gudbranson continues to play exceptionally with Fowler (the pairing in 146 minutes has 54.79 CF% and 55.91 xGF%) the Ducks could choose to keep him for the 2021 season or plausibly flip him to another team while retaining cap and get a decent return, i.e. maybe a 2nd.

If Gudbranson leaves Honka would move into the third pairing spot alongside Mahura who looks to be developing into a mini Shea Theodore.

Larsson became the odd man out because of Guhle and Mahura clogging up the left side. Guhle and Mahura will likely be kept for the whole 2021 season as expansion insurance in case one of them is claimed.

  1. Jones, Max
  2. Shore, Devin ($1,125,000 retained)
Additional Details:
This trade is centered around Jones and Cernak obviously. It works because Tampa can't afford to keep Cernak next season as they have 8M to resign Cirelli, Sergachev, Joseph, Maroon, Shattenkirk and Cernak. And most of if not all of that will spent on Cirelli and Sergachev.

Jones is an exciting player and should provide cheap skill for the Bolts next season, Shore is cost-controlled and better than he's shown in his limited opportunity in Anaheim.

I really like all of your trades involving defensemen, but I wouldn't break up what is to me a fine fourth line.

I don't think that line has actually been very good. They have <40 CF% and <38 xGF% they get hemmed in >60% of the time they're on the ice. The only thing I think that is productive from them is Grant and Rowney are good on the PK which is where they get their trade value. But I don't think the Ducks need that PK utilization more than the picks they would get in return for them.

This draft is one of the deepest through-and-through since 2003, the more lottery picks the Ducks can get in this draft the better.

I agree with most of this except Grant. He may have some numbers to improve on, but he's been the most effective 4th line center we've had in years.
