Also guess I'm cheering for the Coyotes now.

Really didn't think AZ would grab him, considering their cap situation.

To anyone who thinks this is a fair deal or good for the Devils in any way just remember this:
The islanders received a similar package for Michael Grabner.

Shero got fleeced! He needed to get quality over quantity and he just... didn't.

On one hand, it's better to get something for someone you know is leaving in the offseason than just letting them walk for nothing (ahem, Columbus). On the other hand, wtf Shero lol.

was hoping the trade wouldve been for more, but shero getting fleeced is just as good

Biggest piece of this trade is clearly Blake Speers

Not a ton to get for such a good player, but as a rental of a guy they weren't going to be able to re-sign, it's a decent return. Fair trade.

The rules of Hall:
If he is on your team you either make the playoffs or win the lottery
If you trade him, you lose

How is Rykov + 2nd anywhere near a similar return? To start there is a 1st, with another conditional 1st/2nd/3rd. Those picks alone outvalue the grabner "package". Then you add Merkley and Bahl.

Sure its not a fantastic deal for the Devils but when was the last time you saw a high quality prospect moved for a rental?

I hate the Devils more than any other team but even I wouldn't say they lost this trade. Seems like wherever Hall was going to end up, people were going to bash the Devils for their return. In all honestly, he isn't worth the moon, so I don't know why people were expecting that. Bahl and Merkley are really good prospects, and they got two picks out of it too. Giving up Speers was... weird... but aside from that, this really isn't a bad return for an overrated, polarizing, unproven (in playoffs) 28 year-old winger who was never going to sign in NJ anyway. I'm with you on this one, Devils fans (never thought I'd say that). Hockey world overreacting. Let's see what Hall can do in the playoffs before we call this a win for Arizona.

I really like this move for the Devils. Great job getting assets in return for a player that was all but gone in the off-season. Not just prospects, but draft picks on top of that. Excellent trade for the rebuilding Devils. Now if they can continue this trend and build around their future. Looking at you Subban...

Coyotes already have a good lineup that, IMO, has over achieved. We can debate if they will stay the course and continue this level of play but Hall is really a mystery at this point. Who knows which player he will show up as? And a possible rental? That's alot of talent to give up. I'd pump the brakes if I were a 'yotes fan. It really seems like a feast or famine situation with this trade.

A very solid C prospect, two other solid prospects and potentially 2 firsts for a rental to Arizona.

I think it's fair. Shero didn't get "fleeced", and the Grabner trade was NOT comparable to this at all (*ahem*)

I think the trade is fine for both sides.

I think Devils should got more from Halls trade. They lost a MVP and got two decent prospects, one solid prospect (but Bahls way to the NHL will be long). The only big think could be the first rounder, but it is projected to be mid-or-late pick, so...

Hasn't hall only made the playoffs once? Not really a rule as it is just an unexpected blip on the radar.

I’m happy for Arizona. If there was any fan base that suffered enough to just say **** it let’s treat ourselves it was them. Great deal for them, also please go to UFA Hall because we don’t need u in the central.

Grabner got 5 B/C prospects
Hall got a 1st, 3 B/C prospects and a 3rd ( likely another B/C prospect).

Hall got more, but not a ton more

Guess I will join the opposite side as I do with most of these trades.

A hard first round pick, A conditional 3rd that is almost guarantee to become a 2nd round pick (could become 1st).

And 3 B prospects (1 being a former first)

All for a Rental who isn't even a PPG and missed almost all of last season with an injury.

Thanks for bringing Tatar's value up smile
