Not gonna lie this is way more than i thought it would be. Its definitely a quantity over quality deal though.

Good trade for both teams IMO.

At the end of the day Taylor Hall wins, he gets to see the playoffs this year, very likely, and he will make a metric ****ton of money next year. Good luck Arizona, go win the weak pacific and try and upset Dallas or St louis and youve got a chance at a cup

How is Hall playing this year?
How many goals???

I think Shero couldn't get quality so he went for quantity instead.

Anyone would have accepted from the AVs the following instead :

1st rounder
Timmins
B/C prospect

People need to read into these trades before they go voting because the amount of people who think Arizona Won this trade is way too many. Keep in mind that AZ is a good solid team right now and they just got better with Hall in the short term. The Coyotes are going to make the playoffs and I think they will win their first round match up so right there the NJ Devils are getting a hard 1st Round pick in a very deep draft (2020) and they get a (soon to be) 2nd Round pick in another deep draft in 2021. In addition, NJ gets the 3rd and 4th rated Prospects from AZ right now and Kevin Bahl is a STUD and a big one at that. Merkley is an NHL caliber player and will make the NJ team going forward. Getting basically 4 young players in this deal is terrific for NJ for a player who they weren't able to sign is very good. I think the Coyotes will TRY VERY HARD to sign Taylor Hall longterm if he does good in the first month. Once Marian Hossa and Mike Ribiero's contracts come off their books they will have the Cap to lock him in as one of their top forwards. I think it's a win win for both teams right now but overall I think IF NJ drafts well then they win longterm. If Hall was more consistent I'd be saying otherwise.

To anyone who thinks this is a fair deal or good for the Devils in any way just remember this:
The islanders received a similar package for Michael Grabner.

Shero got fleeced! He needed to get quality over quantity and he just... didn't.

Weren't you the guy who said Sakic got fleeced with the Barrie trade lol. Hall is very overrated. Shero got a solid return for him.

I’m happy for Arizona. If there was any fan base that suffered enough to just say **** it let’s treat ourselves it was them. Great deal for them, also please go to UFA Hall because we don’t need u in the central.

Why? You don't want Arizona picking 1st overall?

honest opinion on this trade is that arizona obviously wins in the short term.

new jersey is banking on the prospects panning out and the two picks being decent players. unlikely that anything eventually coming back will be a first line winger, but it's likely to be more than adam larsson lol

No, they are moving to the central when SEA comes in.

Fair trade. Arizona didn’t overpay for a rental, and NJ got good value in a trick situation.

it's super-stupid that the NHL plans to move the Coyotes to the Central Division, and I recall reading that the Coyotes' upper management also thinks the same way and would rather the NHL maybe come up with a not-so-lazy solution.

Really didn't think AZ would grab him, considering their cap situation.

They probably won't resign him

Hall taking all of his playoff experience, winning history, and leadership to Arizona.

Oh, no, wait...

At least the AGMs can move on.

no they didnt. nyi didnt get any 1st rounders or a player even drafted in 1st round.
nj got some ok futures and some extra picks for a guy with 6 goals in 30 games so not bad.

What happens if all conditions are met! If Az has a top 3 pick the (2020 1st becomes a 2021 1st) and if they win a round and re-signs Hall the (2021 3rd becomes a 2021 1st) so 2× 2021 1st how is that possible?

It will probably shift one of the first until 2022

The most they get is two firsts.

New Jersey will receive Arizona's first round pick unless it ends up being in the top 3 this year. If the conditions are met for the other pick, that one would be for their 2022 first round pick instead.

They're picking 1st overall now though. It comes with Hall.

The rules of Hall:
If he is on your team you either make the playoffs or win the lottery
If you trade him, you lose

And his teams have more lottery picks than playoff appearances...

I got that one wrong they can't have a top 3 pick and win a playoff round
