Nope Detroit easily declines, And you do know that Holland was the main issue with AA and Ferris right? No way AA signs long term in Edmonton.

Yea but you do have to admit AA with McDavid would be pretty deadly. He has the speed to keep up, and all AA's ever needed was to play with an elite playmaking center. Damn would that be awesome for him. IDK if I had the chance to have the best player in the world pass me 30 goals a season, I might be willing to overlook whatever problem I had with the GM...

You're right that trade is pretty weak, but with Hall going for a 1st and basically one good, not great, prospect, AA might not get what we've all thought. I agree no position to sell low, but all year I've been going with a 1st and B/B+ defense prospect. Well damn that's basically what Hall got. I think Hall is extremely overrated, hes had like 1 really good year and every other year was just ok, not great for 1st overall. But we might have to start reconsidering how much AA would actually get now that the hall trade is out there.

Hall is very good player, better than AA, but the one problem with Hall that AA does not have is, Hall is a UFA at seasons end and can walk, AA is still a RFA and which ever team were to trade for him still owns his rights.

Athanasiou is NOT an alternative to Hall, he doesn't have even close to the impact that Hall does. Since games are won on the basis of what you create minus what you give up, I like to look at 5v5 GF%Rel to see how a player does in comparison to his teammates. In the past 2.5 years, Hall is 11th in the NHL (among forwards with 1000+ minutes) with a +11.16 mark, while Athanasiou is 301st in the NHL (of 375) with a -5.20 rate. In other words, Hall creates more than he gives up at an elite level while Athanasiou is one of the worst regular players in the league and a big reason why Detroit is as bad as it is.
