I said in the descriptions the values wouldnt always be totally accurate. more focused on specific players and would love to hear from the commenters what they thought fair trades would be
- Pesce: Why you think Pesce and Manson's value is so different? Or do you simply value Liljegren + 2nd ~= Bracco somehow? With age and contract status I'd say Pesce gets the leg up there.
- Hjalmarsson: Cap doesn't work, and trading a 23 year old for a 32 year old isn't the way to go, he's on the decline now and would prevent us from retaining a guy like Barrie or extending Dermott to a long-term extension
- Risto: I don't like a lost of Risto's advanced metrics, but 50% retention for 3 years is unrealistic for a guy who is still probably a #4 at the end of the day. Value is maybe fairish, but that retention ain't happening.
- Hamonic: Your reasoning behind the trade value is the precise reason the teams don't do it. Leafs aren't trading a younger player who is an important member of their team for an older rental, and the Flames aren't just going to give you a random 2nd to get the trade done when they need Hamonic themselves.
- Pesce: As I said, value is of, if anything this is the trade where say Kap+Lilj+2nd might get it done and might make some sense. I don't like losing Liljegren but Pesce would be a fantastic add.
- Seabrook/Murphy: This trade is just wild, going to need reasoning behind how this trade got built up to piece it together.
- Murray: A young Tanev I guess, value is reasonable...can't afford to have a guy on defence missing that number of games though.
- Larsson: He's been attrocious this year, hardly the time to buy high.
- Weegar: didn't really recognize the name, but after looking at this stats I pull that trigger. He's having a bit of a breakout season though so Toronto probably has to add something and Florida probably has to be a bit high on Kapanen.
- Subban: Subban($4.5M retained) for Kap 1-for-1 is not a gamble I like the idea of to start with, nevermind adding a 1st and Bracco. Subban was great, then he was good, and this year he is bad. He's 30, lets not pretend he can't have fallen off. He might get a bit better but Jesus, I'm not gonna be the one to want to take that gamble.
- Deangelo: Similar to Weegar, bigger breakout
- DeMelo: Dude's a UFA, pick him up in free agency for for a mid-late round pick if you want to gamble on him.
- Myers: How you can have 1-for-1s with guys like DeMelo and Myers in the same post astounds me. If I recall correctly Myers was one of those weird signings inbetween drafts that you can do if you want to take a gamble with your SPC slots, and quite frankly that guy was a genius. 6'5 RHD having a breakout season at 22. Kapanen won't get it done, they'll ask for Nylander.
- Pietrangelo: trading the farm for a rental isn't a good idea, neither in my book is signing the contract that Petro likely wants. Pass, let Liljegren do the thing. Blues need him for their run anyways.
- Tanev: Looks like he's doing well this season, which means his season-ending injury is on the horizon. But Virtanen is an interesting piece and seems to be reinventing himself so the trade could work in theory.
