He could go to Denver for a trip. He won't play the Avs. I don't even want him at 50% retention. Unless he has a Dustin Brown level revelation. But with EJ, Makar (yeah I know they're both hurt but still) and Timmins coming up, PK would get in the way. Besides I'd rather have Cole and the 2nd.

I am not say PK is not an upgrade, I just think Cole adds a nice defensive and tough piece on Colorado's blueline. I am not sure you mess with that. Makar (when healthy) and Girard and even Johnson offer up enough offense from the back end to account for whatever else PK might bring, or not bring to the table. There are other pieces from NJ that I'd imagine Colorado would be far more interested in, that would also be obtainable (so that would obviously rule out the kiddos, Jack and Nico). I think Simmonds wouldn't be expensive, and he'd help the Avs, especially on their second unit PP. I also think Michael McLeod would be an interesting get. He really has been underutilized in my opinion in the AHL. He offers some great speed, good defensive game and pretty solid hands. Maybe a change of scenery might do the kid some good.

Don’t see the draw of this. Unless devils are retaining, will
Be hard to find a trade partner.

Pk at 6m is more tempting

I think there is no chance Michael McLeod gets moved. He is one of those guys they are building around, not shipping out for "change of scenery."

Based on only their actions so far, I have to disagree. They are not building around McLeod out all. Sure, he's still a nice prospect, but I don't believe the Devils consider him a difference-maker, or a future part of their core anymore. And that assumption or prediction is based on how he has been developed so far during his young career.

A team in the devils situation is not moving a young former first rounder when he is still developing. The only way they are doing that is if someone turns into a Ho-Sang situation and they have no choice.
