Well I’d say dump JBo that 2M and you have to trade Allen. For the love of all that is holy. Get something while he has value. That’s 6.35M for those two plus the 2M in cushion you’re up to 8.35 already then you look at dealing someone like Sandford who is gonna be expendable with Kyrou and that has 9.85M in cap room. Plenty to sign Petro with

Here’s an idea, trade Allen and maybe Bortuzzo and Steen. Dunn can hopefully be signed 2x3 and Bouwmeester won’t get that much. I could see him signing league minimum, but more likely 1M. Sanford can be traded too. There are so many ways to clear space for Petro. He holds the key. He will take a discount I imagine.

Might have to buyout both Steen and Bozak if they had to, to keep Pietrangelo. Move them if they’re willing, but with no trade clauses they have to agree to any deals.

I'm really not concerned as both Allen and Bozak are very tradeable seeing as they're playing well as of late and they only have one more year left on their deals. Steen to a lesser extent, he seems like the guy we're handcuffed to if anyone. I don't know why we ever moved for Faulk...

Schwartz gets dealt. Only player with good value at his cap hit. Most of the other big contracts will take a sweetener and if you’re moving those contracts with sweeteners you’re losing your depth.

Nah. Trading schwartz would be a mistake. Bozak retained to 4m is easily tradeable. Steen's buyout gets us the rest of they way to signing Petro if we don't sign Bo. Or moving Allen won't be as hard as it sounds. No trade protection and 1 yr left.

I think bozak would be tradable, even if it’s only future considerations. Think you could get a 5th.

If a team has 5M in cap space why would they use it on Bozak when there are other pieces to be had at similar or better prices? As for Allen he’ll be a time share goalie at best next season and 4.35M could be a little high for teams interested in that.

I’m saying retain 1 mil and Bozak is right near avg 3c money. I think Soderberg (4.75m) got moved for (small) value. Gudbranson (4m) just got moved without cap coming back. It’s possible, especially if bozak has a good playoffs. Sounds dumb, and it is, but there are GMs who trust a good but tiny sample size in playoffs.

In any case, I’d much rather sweeten a deal on a lesser player to open up cap than trade a good forward like Schwartz while these guys are still in their prime.

We’ll see what happens. I wouldn’t be surprised if Schwartz becomes available.
