Montreal rejects.

We aren't handing you the cup. Maybe come up with a real offer next time.

Can you repeat that in English? Almost sounds like French for “I don’t Know a damn thing about hockey”

Not sure how I can make it any more english. Montreal rejects. I shouldn't have to explain myself on this one. They are trading one of the best leaders in the NHL. He's a DFD who happens to be on pace for 68 points this season. You can cry all you want, but this doesn't come close to what Weber is worth.

Imagine thinking Johnsson, kapanen, kerfoot, ceci and Lindgren have negative value....

Johnsson= 1st 3rd
Kapanen= 1st 4th
Kerfoot = 1st
Ceci= 5th
Lindgren = 5th

Poehling = 1st
Webber = 1st and a 3rd

So I would say you make out very well on this trade.

Leafs don’t want that contract. Yes Weber is good right now but time will catch up. If Toronto were in a better position I would certainly entertain an offer.

Not saying it's a bad trade value wise, but you don't trade Weber under any circumstances. What he brings to the locker room is worth more than almost anything you could give us.

Not to mention, if Toronto got a leader like Weber and his playing abilities, they are almost guarantee to win a cup, you might not like the value, but a Stanley Cup makes up for any trades you may have lost in value terms.

Yup and I get that and fans like their players, especially when they are playing well.

but you could easily deal off the pieces given for a younger Dman... hell even petro is Younger. Or a younger cheaper one.

Montreal has already won the **** out of that Subban trade. If they were then able to role it over again for a return like this... it would be epic.

Leafs decline this all day. Not because Weber sucks... because he is old and it would be poor asset management.

I don't know how you remove Weber from that locker room and expect the chemistry to remain the same. He's the captain for a reason. I think he retires here, regardless of what happens.

Let's be honest here, Dubas isn't known for his good asset management.

I would say his asset management has been great. Think all of the trades he’s made have been great.

No doubt about Webber. Can’t replace locker room guys. Especially with a young team.

You always have to have a leader. The teams that have won the cup in recent years have been a mix of young players and veteran players, Guys like Weber/Price are great influences for the young guys.

Sportsnet did a story on Weber and if his play is sustainable and what it tells is that he is in his usual once a year heater that he's gone on every year in Montreal. Its almost always around this time where he looks like he's running towards the Norris until he trails off in the end of the season and falls back to earth. Montreal's current 7 game road trip is going to be a tough one for the team and it won't take much to completetly fall out of the race right now. TO under Keefe looks like they are going to make a run up the standings likely solidifying 2nd in the Atlantic, while the Buffalo, Florida, Tampa and Montreal are all battling for 3rd. If Montreal drops even 3 of this road trip, its going to likely have them in 5th in the division and then we'll see what kind of leadership this team has.

1) Weber will drop back to his average which is still a good player but far from what he's looked like over the past 10 games or so
2) Once the playoffs look further away is this young squad going to fold
3) If they understand this isn't their year and start selling will they tumble further.

In conclusion, there are almost zero teams that would assume the risk of Weber's contract. Its terrible and anyone that doesn't understand that is just delusional. Its only a good contract if a) he never declines, b) he gets a career ending injury right as he starts declining or c) retires the moment he starts to decline (at which point Nashville is completely screwed.) TO would never give up the assets needed to make the trade which probably are a 10th of what Habs fans think he's worth because as mentioned Weber is the riskiest asset in the league. 8 million cap for a 34 year old is astronomically bad.

I comment on everything Montreal. Only reason I would get involved is because Montreal is involved. This isn't even trolling, it's just you being a moron.
