I don't think DeSmith is coming to Toronto. If Pitt decided to trade him in season it wouldn't be to a team they are battling against for a playoff position, just doesn't make sense. If the Leafs make a move for a backup it'll either have to come from a western conference team or a team in the east that has fallen out of the playoff race. Unfortunately, the teams in the east that are falling out of the playoff race don't have a good, cheap, backup goalie the Leafs could go after.

Umm...Yes, the Leafs are competing with the Penguins for a playoff spot as well as the Habs, Sabres, Bolts and Panthers. The top 3 from each division make the playoffs and then the next two best records get the wild card. So absolutely, the Leafs and Penguins are battling for a playoff spot.

Do you really think the Sabres are going to hold this with Ullmark in net? The habs with no scoring?

Both are only on pace for about 91 points, yeah I think they can keep that pace. I hope they do, because that's mean they've both missed the playoffs. I don't think Montreal is very good, Price covers up a lot and they don't seem to waste away points like the Leafs have done. For the 1st two periods the other night, the Leafs made Buffalo look like an AHL team. I'm more concerned about Tampa and Florida.
