For a team with playoff aspirations, that's correct. For a team with lottery aspirations, now is as good a time as any to trade for Puljujarvi.

Think about this. 2 points separate five teams in the Atlantic. They range from 2nd place buffalo to 6th in the division Florida. The Lightning have 37 points they just need 2 wins. I don’t think a Puljujarvi is a nessecity at this time, now if he is open at the draft/deadline and they are bottom feeders, I’m all for it. But 2 points in a tight division.

Yeah, I probably wasn't clear enough. I think Tampa will be pushing for a playoff spot right to the end of the season, so trading for Puljujarvi doesn't make sense for them until after the season is over. For Detroit, New Jersey, Ottawa and any other team that is out of contention by the deadline, trading for Puljujarvi in-season makes as much sense as trading for a draft pick. Neither can help your team this year, but both have potential to help your team in the future.

Gourde is playing on 4th line and without PP time. Losing him wouldn't hurt us.

I just wanna get rid of this 5M 4th liner.

As a fan of constant movements, I do hope Puljujarvi gets moved at the draft rather at the deadline. Plus I’m going to the draft so the more the merrier. Lol. If Ottawa goes on a tear then they could very well be in. I wouldn’t count them out just yet. But I see your point. And I completely agree. Only that if he can regulate where he plays by holding out, would you want to play for Ottawa or New Jersey or any bottom feeder team?

I'm sure Holland will give any team permission to speak to Puljujarvi's camp prior to making a trade.

Tampa is still a lot closer to winning the cup then either Calgary or Edmonton, Doubt Johnson waives for Calgary or Gourde waives for Edmonton. No incentive for either to waive right now as neither Calgary or Edmonton are any closer to winning the cup then Tampa.

Gourde and Tiny Tyler need to be DRIVEN out of town .. Syracuse or just dont play them if they won't go .. although Gourde is a good 4th liner on ice. We already had to sacrifice JT Miller .. Killorn is next .. AND we have no funds to give Cirelli Cernek or Sergachev a LT deal .. if TJ and 4th liner Gourde are gone we could be able to give all 3 players a 5 to 6 year deal with the 10M saved

Honestly, I'm pretty sure the Habs would be in on him and he'd probably have the Habs as one of the teams he would accept a trade to. I think there is a deal to be made there but only if TB accepts the fact that getting rid of his entire salary will be impossible. Like the trade above, Gagner is a pending UFA so it barely effects and cap and Puljujarvi will have to resign below 1M when he comes back to the NHL as a show me contract. That's basically nothing going back to TB. I highly doubt any team is willing to do that for Gourde.

Everyone agrees Gourde is way over paid and is a 4th liner on TB so you can't possibly expect another team to just take on 5M for another 4 years without either TB retaining quite a bit of salary or taking back some significant salary long term. Maybe not a 4-5M guy but maybe like a 2-3M who still has 2-3 more years left on his contract.
