Initial Creation Date: Dec. 8, 2019
Published: Dec. 18, 2019
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
VAN: The Canucks are looking for a trade to get Baertschi a change of scenery and I think buffalo should look. He’s put up points in the nhl but is having a tough season and could help boost secondary scoring on this roster. Send them Sheary who gives them a top-9 winger who’s playing for a contract.

NJD: Buffalo needs another center desperately and Zacha brings size they don’t have right now as well. Pairing him with two wingers who are known to score goals can help him figure out how to take the next step in the nhl.

NSH: Deadline deal. Bogo wants out and with the wealth of defenders in ROCH they can make that happen

Does NSH really need to add a player there or is the pick enough? Would like to get a later pick for Salomaki if possible in another, or this, deal.

"Buffalo needs another center desperately and Zacha brings size they don’t have right now as well. I like the Zacha idea but Sabres need more concrete players, not gambling on players that may or may not break out and i wouldnt give up that to get Zacha in the first place

I can understand this. Toffoli and Kreider are guys that interest me as well but honestly idk what we’ll get from Botts. Seemingly very high emphasis on value in a trade, will he want to pay what it would cost for a top rental? Would you be okay with one of NJD or VAN trade for one guy on a change of scenery?

I guess I have no tie to Hutton and if a team would want to pay to get him, I’d be more than happy to move him and recall Hammond. Just trying to play with different ideas

I like this deal for Zacha, but I'm not sure that Botterill would want to move Hutton, although I would not mind, he seems to be a good locker room guy, on the other hand, if we trade Hutton, then we better find another goalie who will play in tandem with Ullmark, not sure about Hammond.

Baertschi is a strange deal and a player, if he can’t play, he will have one more year left on the deal and this will interfere with our cap next season, I would try to unload our cap as much as possible, especially since most not very good players will leave this in summer.

I wouldnt want a rental, but a guy like Palmieri would have to be available (bad team, some term), Dustin Brown is another. If we can get one of those, then id target a change of scenery guy. Sabres have a ton of young quality d assets, both LA and NJ could use that

Hmmm I can’t see NJ moving Palmieri, but Brown is kind of interesting. Definitely has scoring prowess, leadership, and size the roster severely lacks

NJ did say they want to keep some vets around to bring up the young guys, but idk if that pertains to Palmieri whos approaching 30, has no rings and has seen the playoffs 1 in 5 years. I would think that hes not on NJs timeline and wouldnt want to waste his prime mentoring rookies.
