Description
from my brain to the internet and to IRL god willing!!!!
Trades
1.
2.
PIT
  1. Weegar, MacKenzie
Additional Details:
PIT and FLA have recent trade history, allows FLA to trade Hoffman for asset(s), Galchenyuk takes Hoffman's spot for cheaper with a fellow Russian on the other side in Dadonov, JJ is the classic mold of defensemen that an old school coach like Q loves, and with his CF at 50% and xGF at 53% the stats better match his reputation of a steady defensive defenseman this year, their D is now balanced with righties paired with lefties
FLA
  1. Galchenyuk, Alex ($2,450,000 retained)
  2. Johnson, Jack
Additional Details:
a team that needs a potential top 6 winger for cheap and with a situation they feel can support Gally is who will be our dance partner for him, FLA is uniquely positioned to think they can maximize him with multiple Russian-ish players on the roster and a geography that they seem drawn to here in the States, Marino has passed Schultz this year so Schultz is our current 3rd pair RHD, Weegar is a solid defensive-minded RHD and at 1.6M he's more suited for that spot going forward than Schultz at 5.75M, that allows you to deal Schultz for asset(s) and use his cap space to sign our numerous RFAs this summer
3.
PIT
  1. Dugan, Jack [Reserve List]
  2. Hague, Nicolas
Additional Details:
Pens add a pick for a hometown kid in Dugan and to even things out a bit more
VGK
  1. Schultz, Justin ($2,750,000 retained)
  2. 2022 3rd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Schultz is a good #3 (and passable #2 if necessary) offensive RHD which is a premium asset in the NHL. VGK have somewhat of a surplus of top 4 LHD but don't have too many RHD. Hague is a good prospect but he's also a LHD and a rookie. VGK gets some balance and a guy that is ready right now (as opposed to down the line) to help them push for a Cup while still having a fairly young D corps locked in with Schmidt, Theodore, McNabb. They get Schultz who's still on the right side of 30 as a rental for the Cup run and of course the chance to sign him and even out their pairs going forward if he meshes. Which he absolutely will, with their uptempo style and identity as a team of former castoffs. Schultz used to be one of those so he should fit right in with their Isle of misfit toys culture
4.
PIT
  1. Kase, Ondrej
Additional Details:
injury history is risky, but the potential reward is a future breakout candidate and fancy stats darling
ANA
  1. Lafferty, Sam
  2. 2021 2nd round pick (PIT)
Additional Details:
Lafferty has shown flashes of skill already and does a lot of the little stuff well, the kind of young players coaches love, and slightly younger than Kase which benefits the Ducks who are rebuilding

Please make the FLA and ANA trades happen lmao, Kase is one of ANA's best forwards, and Weegar has been very very close to Ekgood for FLA's best d man this year (and was also p good last year)

I love Kase and some Pens fans might chastise me for adding another injury prone player to an already insanely cursed team but I just think he'd pop off for us. The numbers and skill are there but it's an admittedly big risk.

Weegar is a weird one because his underlying numbers are great but he has no pedigree and kind of came out of nowhere so who knows how we should rate this very small sample size for him. Galchenyuk honestly seems like a good fit for FLA but not sure how much they value this season and a half or so of Weegar they've seen.

Why would Galchenyuk need a “fellow Russian” on his line? 1. Galchenyuk isn’t Russian so don’t need to use the word fellow. 2. Teams have seen he had that here in Pittsburgh and did **** with it lol

Of course he's technically American but he's of Russian and Belarusian descent and speaks the language. And just because we here in PIT don't put stock in the Russian connection thing (Geno seems to actively disdain the concept going off of his response to the addition of Plotnikov for that reason which he found insulting) doesn't mean that other teams or players don't value that idea.
