Well at least this isn't the worst overpay I've seen on here in the last while.

Savard is a 29 year old #4 defenceman. He has no upside, and is a good but not great player. He's not some top pair stalwart that is going to shut everyone down. He's not worth a 23 year old top 6 forward who has already scored 20 goals and 40+ and has a tonne of potential. Liljegren is going to be a cheap and good defenceman for TO and has loads of potential as well. He's got a much higher ceiling than Savard and will cost his ELC contract only. You just don't trade that when you are in the cap situation TO has. Anderson is having a terrible season, not sure why that is but I don't really care, we don't need more wingers. If anything, I'd do a Kapanen for Savard and possibly something else, but I'd settle for a one for one.

Let's say Anderson who in 26 games this season has one goal and is IR and Kapanen are of equal. Then you're trading 1.5 years of Savard for Ceci and the long term control/potential of Liljegren. Can't see Savard being that much of difference makerthis season. The gap between Ceci and Savard isn't Liljegren.

Agreed Lilj is alot to give up. I would like what Anderson could bring to the lineup. Honestly not sure how good Savard is, but strikes me as a defensive type that would play well with Reilly (desperately needed).

Other targets for Kap trade: Adam Larsson, Mason, Severson?

I know Leaf fans and non Leaf fans have this fascination with RHDs. But really I haven't see on trade that makes a reasonable upgrade from let's say Ceci that doesn't make the Leafs really overpay now and in futures. But all RHD in the league seems to all stars when traded the Leafs in trade value. And really let's say exchanging Savard or Larsson in exchange for Ceci for half a season is really going to change the Leafs fortunes this season?

you guys are kidding right? feel like im being baited here. Anderson when healthy brings far more to the table than kappy does. savard is exactly what the leafs need on defense, Ide bet liljegren isnt anything better than a 4/5 defenseman years down the road. Savard is a 4 now.

Rielly and Barrie looked terrific the other night. Having two guys that can skate and handle the puck as well as those two makes it really hard to play against them. They get back fast, limit space and can turn things around in a big hurry. I think the only need TO has is replacing Ceci with someone who can actually defend. But we are talking about the bottom pair here. Muzzin and Holl are the shutdown pair and have looked really good and Dermott is now the guy who's trying to keep things together paired with Ceci. The usual trade targets on here are guys with massively inflated value because people give credit for players who benefit massively from having great partners. Not so much in Severson's case but Larsson, Savard, and Manson are all just good players that have at times done well with really good partners in good systems. Except for Larsson, he's literally never been very great. He's a better Ceci but with less offensive ability, and hits more. Larsson has legit never had good underlying numbers. Its a mystery why he gets so much credit.

As a Columbus fan you’re way overpaying here. Anderson and Savard for Ceci, Johansson and a 2021 2nd that turns into a 1st if Toronto wins a playoff round in 2020 or 2021?

Columbus really has no need for RWs so keep Kapanen he’s just a middle 6 RW that we have 4 of already.

I think only way this is fair is if there is a reasonable extension agreed for Anderson, which would only mean that TOR needs to move another winger (Mikheyev, Hyman, Johnsson) in offseason.
