Wonder what Wilson NTC meansHuh?. Why would the Caps trade the superior player(s) and add more cap?
Why would the Leafs add Jenner who makes 2.8m more than Gauthier. Jenner and his three more points than Gauthier?

Wilson is a piece the Leafs need. Size, Grit and a willingness to stand up for a teammate. The Caps get Nylander who is playing much better hockey now (even though the stats don't reflect it). With his passing ability and skill set, the Caps powerplay becomes even more lethal than with Wilson.
Bracco is added for additional Offense and a draft pick to even it out.

You mention cap hit differential between Jenner and Goat. Jenner is a big body as well, except he will actually throw a hit. Come Playoff time, this will be much more beneficial than Goats salary.

I think many fans over estimate the value of Nylander offensively. His style points are nice but not production. Don't know anyone would believe that Nylander is actually a better NHLer than Wilson.
Jenner really isn' that good. Yeah he might be better than Gauthier but the Leafs are in difficult cap situation.

I've never overvalued Nylander personally. I think the Leafs best chance was to package him and Gardiner when they had the chance last year.

If need be, because WSH likes Wilson so much, another pick/higher pick, or another close to NHL ready prospect could be added. I think it's a good base to a potential fair trade

Trouble with trying to trade for Wilson is that he is valuable member on a true Cup contender. Teams like the Caps aren't really looking to next year and beyond but for this year. And Wilson give the Caps a best shot at that. Leafs might have been a good position last summer to trade Nylander...maybe for cap relief or a Dman. But last year after his Dec 1, he absolutely stunk, so he was virtually untradeable, and I think that feeling carried over till over the summer. He's playing closer to 7m cap hit.....but really he plays top lines minutes and is on 55 point pace this season...really not that impressive.

Not sure Columbus is going to be making that move. Jenner means more to Columbus then either player they are acquiring.... neither of them would be a second line center and Jenner is showing he can be one.
