Have you looked at either of them at all? Gauthier has more points while playing way tougher minutes. Until they fired Babcock gauthier started around 95% of his shifts in the d zone while playing with shore and timashov. Kk plays easier minutes with way better linemates and is a negative value player.

For starters you should look up their isolated impacts and RAPM.

Over the years Hab fans on this site has made posts putting McCarron in NHL trades (for whatever reason). In the past three games, Gauthier has scored as many goals (two) as McCarron has scored in whole NHL career.
After a fast start last season, KK seems to lost his NHL way. For his sake and the Habs and their fans, may KK find his way back to the NHL and be a good NHLer.

If we are basing things purely on points then sure. But nylander has had a better on ice impact then Staal has had so that would say that hes the better player. The goat has had a better on ice impact this season and I doubt anyone would say hes been worse then kotkaniemi (anyone that pays attention anyways)

Kk has been awful. If he wasnt the 3rd overall pick he wouldn't be in the nhl right now. Neither are very good but one is clearly better then the other. Montreal is one of the best 5v5 teams in the league.

I never said he was the worst player in the league, I said he was below replacement level. From what I watched last season he wasnt that good either, he went on one pdo bender then came back down to earth. I've said multiple times that he will be a good player in the future but right now he isnt good at all

I find it amusing that both of you have entirely missed the point of the OP -- which is that KK needs more development time, and meanwhile some Canadiens fans think he's a viable number one center right now. Both @Jack_ and I are saying don't destroy the kid's confidence by continuing to play him against Crosby and Bergeron and Aho and Barzal and Point and Eichel and expect him to succeed.

Montreal did KK a disservice by treating him as the next Jean Beliveau. Give him some time. Has everyone forgotten that Max Domi had a terrible down spell after his initial impression, which is why he was traded from Arizona?
