Trading Galchenyuk

Created by: AnalyticsGeek

Description
It really doesn’t look like things are going to work out for Galchenyuk with the Pens. Our last hope would be if he gets a shot with Sid and finds a whole new level to his game. It doesn’t seem like he fits Sullivan’s system.

I didn’t want to do this trade but my friend brought it up. I have been very vocal about how I don’t think Sheary is a good player. He lacks hockey sense and balance. However, I do feel his playing style would fit the team better than Galchenyuk. He’s fast and he forechecks. Can possess the puck in the offensive zone. Honestly, if he plays with Crosby he can do well. A line of Sheary-Crosby-Tanev would be pretty good.

The most ideal star winger for Crosby is Mitch Marner, but that’s just not realistic. So why not bring in someone who’s played well with him before?

Why would we trade a 2nd and a 3rd for a marginally better player? Plus we could not make that work cap wise.

This would never happpen...they’d probably trade Galchenyuk for a right handed defenseman with term to replace Schultz next year.

Subban isn't working for NJD, so some sort of Subban-Galch trade

Every Sabres fan would do this trade in a heart beat. But Botterill would ask you what Dmen you could throw in

You think Pitt wants to eat that cap hit for an under performing player?

Cap wouldnt really be an issue if they dump Bogo, but Galchenyuk is a forward so Botterill wont give up a 2nd for him

That’s my exact idea...I’ve then been trading Schultz and DeSmith to Toronto for Johnsson or Kapanen in almost all of my ACGM’s

Galchenyuk's underperforming as well isn't he
but then again NJD could retain on Subban if they want

Galchenyuk is a UFA, not 9 mill for 2 more seasons

Sabres are getting a steal in Galchenyuk. The dude is an elite talent who hasn’t had the opportunity in PIT to be an elite player. The coach always puts him on the fourth line. In BUF, he’d be amazing with jack.

I really don’t think the Penguins need another right handed defenseman for next season. They already have Marino, who’s already proved to be better than Schultz ever was. They need a third pairing RD. Maybe Addison will be ready. If not, play Ruhwedel.

IMO if the Penguins are going to trade with the Leafs, then they should go after Mitch Marner. Send Murray + Pettersson + Galchenyuk for him.

They need another guy if Schultz leaves...ruhwedel might be playing okay right now but I don’t trust him to sustain it over a full season and they probably will want Addison to take his time developing in Wilkes rather than just rushing right up here and playing reduced minutes. I also just don’t see the leafs trading Marner or Nylander. It might seem like that since they’re the whipping boys of the Toronto media for taking way too much money but that probably never happens if Babcock doesn’t do Babcock things.

Nylander is fine, Leaf fans love him but they all despise Marner. He’s the obvious whipping boy there. You’re right about Addison, I think him and Joseph are very promising on this blueline for the future.
