MTL decline because Gourde isn’t worth 5.166M and he’s sign long term. Armia have another year remaining, after he’s leaving. MTL have Gallagher Caufield Suzuki Ylonen that will all fight for a top6 spot. No space for Gourde contract, but value is their, very fair

Calgary declines and so does Montreal.

Why does Johnson waive to leave sunny Florida for snowy Calgary? Same for Gourde.

I kinda like these moves. Value works. Just hard to believe that MTL would let Armia go after having a career year though...

Same lol, simpler explanation:

MTL is (variably) the smalest team in the league at wings. You want their biggest foward for a 5'9'' guy. ?

I actually think these are the two teams they would waive their NTCs for.

TJ - TOP 6 minutes playing on his native position (which he likes the most obviously) and Calgary is very close to Spokane too (his birthplace).
Gourde getting a chance to play in Quebec where he was born.

Dont agree, I think neither waives their NTC.

Maaaaybe Lehkonen. That might make sense, Armia is playing super well right now but more than that brings rare size that Montreal really lacks and would not be helped with the addition of Gourde.

Easy? Name me one reason why either Johnson or Gourde would waive their full NTC for either Calgary or Montreal, Tampa is still closer to winning a cup then either Calgary or Montreal. No reason for either to waive.

Why would we trade one of the better offensive left wings in the league at 5v5 and one of our better defensive forwards for an overpaid 3rd liner?

I meant Lehkonen for Gourde 1-on-1.

Gourde is a constant 45 point scorer. He carries more value than Lehkonen, and sure as heck wouldn't be a 3rd liner in basically any other team but offensively very deep TB.

He's also 28 and signed until he's 34.

So age wise that's almost perfect. Fellas seem to start decline in the age between 32-35.

If we're being technical here, Players start to decline at 28, but after 30 is where we see it the most. This isn't NHL20.

Just points again ... Lehkonen is better at everything than Gourde, only Gourde have more finish. Gourde is overpaid, he should have get 4M long term max, and where you put Gourde in your line up when Tatar-Danault-Gallagher Domi Suzuki Drouin Caufield are their ? Who’s gonna play PK with Danault ( Lehkonen is the best PKer after Danault ), Thompson wont be back so you got Danault Byron Armia Suzuki that can play PK. I rather give Suzuki PP time than PK time. Lehkonen is a lock 3rd liner in MTL for years to come

I don't even own NHL20.

Also there's no saying when a player starts to decline. They're individuals. It can happen in any time.

Same goes for improving. If Lehkonen's stats don't improve and Gourde's stays the same, TB will be the losing team.

"Lehkonen is better at everything than Gourde"

Well statistically that's very incorrect.

Tatar's most likely out in a year or two. Firstly I'd slot Gourde in Caufields place and when he starts in NHL I'd replace Tatar with Gourde.

As for PK, I'd consider either Armia, Byron or Domi. Or Gourde himself. He should be able to do that, he's pretty fast... Also maybe Kotkaniemi, he's pretty big.

Nope. Lehkonen provides enough defensively, that he doesn't need to get anymore points.

I think Tampa needs to focus on trading Johnson for now .. Gourde is good 4th liner despite being overpaid 4M a year .. whereas Johnson is hurting us on ice not just contract. His scoring % is laughable and is a shrimp and takes up no space in middle D. Last nights OT loss was a microcosm of his value.

Why would TJ waive? Management says he being phased out in Tampa and has option to be sent to Syracuse .. agree to trade .. or be sent to Seattle in expansion draft next year .. so FORCE him out!
