I’m not shy with my desire to trade for Kappy, but my guess is the leafs won’t be taking McGinn. I think it makes more sense to move Wallmark & TVR

The Leafs trade does not make much sense. They don't need to trade away a contributor at the moment for a 2nd round pick who might play for the Leafs in 4 years. Also, van Riemsdyk is not really that great. If the Leafs would agree a trade, they would be looking at a Pesce and not TvR

I am not sure that is true. The leafs have pretty stellar depth and once Johnsson comes back there are guys who will have to go on waivers that deserve to be in the lineup. Moving one of Kapanen or Johnsson for an upgrade over Ceci makes a lot of sense. I think this trade would have to be pondered deeply.

If the leafs are looking at Pesce, we're looking at Nylander on top of Kapanen. There is no better DFD in the league, and he's on an incredibly team friendly deal. Toronto can go shove themselves womehere if they want Pesce

They don't want him but we'll take Gardiner back.

TVR isn't an upgrade. Moving Ceci for an upgrade makes sense but we're talking about the 6th D spot. They can call up an upgrade.

I know Canes are getting a first rounder from that Marleau trade. Maybe a mid teen pick, but even that player won't be help the Canes for years if ever. Wonder if the Canes, and certainly the players on the roster now, wish the Canes had that cap space so they could acquire a player for a playoff push
Leafs are razor thin on defence but still don't think they would be do that deal. Kapanen has been good this year, sometimes really good. And despite the rants on CapFriendly, Ceci hasn't been the cause of Leafs failures of defence this season. Ceci and the whole group has looked much improved lately.

I think Leafs reject this trade, TVR is not better than Ceci.

Possibly and I think Sandin or Liljegren are probably better than Ceci is now anyways. But not burning a year of their contracts could be smart.
